Ha yep. I figured it wouldn’t be immediate given pale horses. Even when that arrived there was the whole double A/B thing, and the missing Dorothy lyrics.
And pockets glued shut.

Yeah, right! Maybe if you listen to your records like some schmuck, but real fans are all about the pretty colors...

I have a question for the master vinyl collector, how do you know when you’ve reached the MAXIMUM level of pretentiousness?

Go back to school and become a structural engineer. Problem solved.
You’re an asshole.

That is the worst album cover I've ever seen. Period.
It has cancelled ANY desire I had in checking out the album.

What was the pricepoint on that?
Never mind, I seen now. Thanks for the post!

It looks unlikely that the magnets have caused the problems directly. Magnetic fields are not going to act more than 10cm from the weight so the magnet will not act on your cartridge. However, the extra weight will act on your bearings maybe and/ or the declicate wires coming out of the arm and going into the turntable . It is possible that you have managed to move one of those or maybe rub some of the insulation off over time. There is another possibility...if there were electronic components under the place where the magnet were fixed then you could have caused a change in them with the magnetic field of the magnet.....this could maybe cause a hum........The last possibility is the grounding issue mentioned above.
Thank you. I'll double check the wires under the arm, but I'm pretty sure they're all secured. The weight of the magnets helped balance out the tone arm for sure. I was more worried about magnifying the wires inside the tone arm. The magnets are very small, smaller than a watch battery, BUT they're VERY strong. I just wanted to make sure a magnet couldn't flat out ruin a cartridge.

Do you have your old cart? Try putting it back on and ditching the magnets. That might isolate the issue to your 2M Red.
That's definitely a good idea. Thank you.

Is there a possibility you might have unplugged the ground wire? If the magnet had any kind of a negative impact, it would be instantaneous.
Aah, I see. It certainly was not instantaneous. It was a slow build for sure. Ground wire was not the issue.

Hey guys,
I own a Pro-Ject Debut III. I upgraded to a 2M Red cartridge but the new cartridge is too heavy for my counterweight so I stuck some magnets on the back of the counterweight to balance things out. Fast forward a month later, I now have a the MOTHER of all hums coming out of my speakers, my turntable is completely unlistenable. Ive ordered some new RCA cables to see if that fixes the problem, but im wondering if I fucked everything up with those magnets.
Anyone out there have a firm grasp on the science of magnets and turntables that could tell me for sure?
Thank you in advance,
Chuck.

But @Velocity of Sound are the black & white splits done? Those always looked great!

Nah man, test pressings 1/1 for the penny pinching labels out there!
3-5 test pressing come with any vinyl order. Additional test pressings should only be $2-$5 each, from what I hear.
-
Unless the other test presses were destroyed, there is/are more than one copy out there. The pressing plant would of made 3-5 copies minimum per order. It would be unwise to press a run of vinyl only relaying on the playback of just one test press.

Anyone sign up for the Joyful Noise VIP 7" series? I noticed there are grooves on the B-Side under the silk screened image on that Melvins 7". Looks like more than one track too. I wonder what's hidden under that paint?

Looks like my CD had 05 on it. Crazy that I've never heard David Rose or Talented & Gifted until today! Thanks dude!
OH DUDE! What a treat it must be hearing these songs. That was such a strong time in Clutch's career. All three of those hidden tracks are killer.

I don't remember them saying they'd replace jackets. I did get some printed inner sleeves though.
I was under the impression jackets were getting replaced also. There where hundreds of people that had their jacket glued shut or the lyric book glued to the inside pocket.
-
Anyone get a replacement jacket yet? I'm happy to see the replaced vinyl, but I ton of people just need a new jacket.
-
Just like RSD vinyl, the value of those Bowie records are gonna drop like a stone.
I do think if you can afford one and that's what you wanna spend your money on, the go for it. Records are fun.

I reached out to the guy and asked him what make this a 'test pressing'.
This was his reply..."Hi...I put out this record on my label. There's really no difference. The pressing plant, Rainbo, just had the labels available so they put them on instead of the usual blank white labels. But it is a test pressing. Thx Eric"
-
Do test presses have different etchings? Maybe a "TP" after the number or something that they take out when they start production?
Test pressings definitely give the same matrix runoff numbers.
-
Is this guy selling an Afghan Whigs LP without its jacket/cover art and calling it a test press??
-
I was told that they received a large discount from the pressing plant and that the refunded money would be used for shipping charges, so maybe they're just replacing stuff as efficiently as possible.

I was underwhelmed with Amorica. I feel it sounded flat, not a bright sounding press at all.

Got my Baroness preorder today. I ordered a Black/Purple variant and a Purple Marble variant. They sent me 2 Purple Marble copies. I really hope they can rectify this issue.
I ordered the exact same thing you did from Pledge and was concerned that both albums came without a sticker or invoice to differentiate the two copies, I had to open to to verify. I was lucky and got the correct order.

I have a locked groove on my purple marble. I think at the end of Side A.
