  1. I have a Word document with every show I've gone to with the date, who I saw play, and where it was. Also have an Excel spreadsheet with every band I've seen and the number of times I've seen them. With over 10 years of shows it's fun to go back and remember shows and lineups etc.
  2. Silver Mount Zion are definitely one of my favorite live bands.
  3. You probably have little to no chance of getting the higher grade. I ran into this when I was in college. I questioned my grade and the professor went back and changed my class participation grade to leave me a few thousandths of a point short of an A. With no written evidence (she only showed me the grade previously), the Provost sided with the professor. He actually was quite rude and obnoxious about it too.
  4. I'm still working on the order of things but the here's a roughly in order list of my top 10 or so. Moving Mountains - Foreword Thursday - Common Existence Cursive - Mama, I'm Swollen Polar Bear Club - Chasing Hamburg Thrice - Beggars Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything to Nothing Transit - Stay Home Fireworks - All I Have to Offer is My Own Confusion Oceansize - Frames (not released in US until this year) Kevin Devine - Brothers Blood Title Fight - The Last Thing You Forget
  5. The first two albums are just awesome. The third album is horrible. A couple of pop gems but the others have lyrics that made me cringe at times and the songs just go nowhere. I'm glad Justin got help but the sober music stunk.
  6. I agree with this. You're dismissing people because of some quirk on their profile and who knows how truthful people are with those things. I would think you'd find more socially awkward people or people who can't make time to go meet people on there. I'm skeptical of it but there will always be people who are successful with it.
  7. wow such a cool tour. Smaller venues. They haven't played the Middle East since the Full Collapse days.
  8. Check out the tv show Coupling. It's a BBC show. It's basically Friends with a ton of sexual innuendo. Just got through the first season and it's hilarious.
  9. I haven't gotten around to listening to this yet. I have all of his previous stuff, but he is starting to get stale to me. The songs are starting to all blur together and sound the same. Especially live, to me he has gotten less fresh (not sure if that's the right word). Maybe if he could draw enough to bring a band out it might make the songs better. I am not excited to hear this like I was when At Home came out. Will give it a chance this week.
  10. Sheena Ozzella - Lemuria Maria Christopher - 27 Caithlin De Marrais - Rainer Maria Sade That's pretty much it. Not too big on female singers.
  11. I have no problem going to shows alone. It's often hard to find people who like the band or are open minded to see them. It's definitely fun with other people but by going alone you don't need to worry about them being ready to go on time, wanting to leave early etc. I can't imagine how many great shows I would have missed and good people I wouldn't have met if I didn't go to shows by myself.
  12. He has said many many times how he's going to pay for it. And yet the CBO says he can't pay for it without raising the deficit. The bill that's out there now is not close to working fiscally, let alone have a chance to pass.
  13. Obama did well to clear up things like death panels and paying for abortion etc., but how is he going to pay it? The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has come out and said that the HR 3200 bill will not save the US any money and will actually increase the deficit.
  14. Sadly, those are the facts. There was no judicial mischief because he is a Kennedy. He pleaded to a lesser charge and got a suspended sentence, ie no jail time.
  15. Yep. I think everyone should be judged on the crap they did when they were young. It isn't as if he drove off a bridge in perfect weather and said "NOW IS MY CHANCE TO KILL THIS BITCH!" The weather was awful and both were tanked. He got out, and wondered home in shock. Ask anyone who has ever had to escape from a sinking car if its a traumatic experience or not. Could he have handled it better? Yep! Should he have been given the DUI his family got him out of? Yep. But the police have openly stated that it was a DUI accident and not vehicular manslaughter. One would think that one profoundly dark spot in the guys life would not overshadow the amazing amount of good the man did. If every child of privilege acted like Ted this country would be better off. Instead most just act like Bush. Seriously? The facts are he was drunk, killed a girl in a car accident, fled the scene, and didn't report it until the next day. If everyone acted like Ted Kennedy? Go check it his bio. He was expelled from college for having someone else take his exam. "Kennedy struggled for much of his life with his weight, with alcohol and with persistent tales of womanizing" And that's from the New York Times, the most liberal paper in the country. He helped bridge some partisan divides on key issues, but to say the country would be better off if everyone was like him is absurd.
  16. "played major roles in passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act and the 1993 Family and Medical Leave Act" Yeah... what a jerk he was. The guy definitely did a lot of good things but he is a symbol for every over privileged politician/celebrity. Chappaquiddick - guy drove drunk off a bridge, didn't report it to the police and left a girl to die. No punishment.
  17. Never actually happened in RI because of the weather.
  18. WOW. I was so pissed when it snowed in Providence last year and they were supposed to be playing Full Collapse in Providence. This totally makes up for it. Full Collapse is one of my favorite albums. With Far? I've been waiting to see them forever. I just saw Jonah play a house show a couple of weeks ago. I am beyond stoked for this. So worth a trip down to NYC.
  19. so many good fests/shows to attend. i just need to move up there. also, how the heck did four year strong get on that bill? hate that band. They're from Worcester.
  20. i like both of them but there's really no question of which show i would attend. I'm going to the Gaslight show. But that's only because I'm not a huge Have Heart fan and have seen them a few times. I will also being seeing them in mid-September at the Great American Hardcore Fest. Close to 50 bands. http://massliveevents.com/
  21. Jupiter is definitely my favorite Cave In album. I could never get into the metal stuff. So stoked for Sunday night!
  22. This makes two shows in a row that The Gaslight Anthem has played radio shows in Boston. Last time you had to win a ticket and this time they're not headlining and it's at some huge outdoor space. It's crazy, pretty much everything is happening on 8/1. Gaslight, Dredg/Rx Bandits/As Tall as Lions. Can't go to either because I'm going to see Incubus that night.
  23. I'm sure these are just a couple dates of a nationwide tour. Exciting stuff.
  24. Of course Springsteen playing 2 dates at a livenation venue, Comcast Center, wasn't included in the promotion. and the lawn is about a mile away from the stage.
