I was under the impression that they won't be allowed to do it from here on out? As in, they already ordered their stock, and may now sell it at their own discretion? Guess I should brush up on the RSD thread.
-
And "official oxblood" or not, that Appendage LP looks lovely, in my opinion. Speaking strictly from your photo, I'd say it matches the artwork quite nicely.
-
It's an exclusive RSD release, thus far. SRC may have them up tomorrow... if it just-so-happens to be one of their 30 titles. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll be able to find them on eBay sometime next week.
-
Not a bad deal at all. Will definitely pass it on to some friends who've been dying to own this album. Hopefully that price is good for a while...
-
I guess we'll see. Done and done. I'm digging that the total cost is still cheaper than SRC, sans shipping.
-
Vote with your dollars gentlemen!
So very well said. Transatlanticism is a superb album, but $50 seems like an outright eBay fee.
-
Just preordered this and Around the Fur from Amazon. Free shipping is the death of of me.
$21.85 here. Although they say it's an import - with a ship date of June 7.
Is it safe to assume that this is the same 180 gram version up for pre-order at SRC? The different release date and "import" bit are throwing me off.
-
They wasted no time putting these up for 04/15/11, I see. So glad they didn't reserve it for RSD. Phenomenal release.
-
Record Store Day took down SRC from their site, there is justice.
... So SRC is or isn't having 30 RSD exclusives, now?
-
They will be getting a number of good releases. Transit, Foo Fighters, JEW, Piebald, OFF!, Mastodon, Whitemore/pos splits. A bunch of other stuff as well. Seems like a solid bet if you don't live near a record store to pick up a bunch of things at once.
Not doubting your word in the slightest, but I have to ask... how do you know this? Is there an unofficial list our there?
-
Interesting.
I had a slight feeling that the package may be along those lines. [An album that features an actual record? How could you not?] Makes me especially glad that I went with the black variant, though I may contemplate snagging a HT copy down the line. Either way - someone should confirm how it sounds.
-
And if that doesn't work, ask if they're planning to release any Norwegian hardcore-metal records in the near future. That should narrow it down significantly.
-
Seeing as VC is now (partially) ran by SRC, would it be unrealistic to expect a directly reply in this thread, explaining the order / status updates?
-
Is that really a score, though?
Either way; congratulations. I think.
-
Actually I think this is ONLY pressed on Ox Blood and the other "variant" on the RSD list is simply the CD. Don't hold me to that but I remember getting that impression.
You're correct. Sorry for the confusion. I misread your inital post (news, rumor, whatever you'd like to call it) and got the impression that they'd repress it after the RSD Oxblood sold out. And I meant to say that if worse came to worst, and the second press was on 10,000 black copies... I'd be all over it. Definitely wasn't trying to imply or suggest that there'd be a black pressing. I can see where the confusions stems from, though, given the double listing for RSD.

is this really two weeks away? hooooly shit
I feel like I've been keeping up with this thread, but your post threw me off. Is there a tentative release date for an U.S. pressing?
-
Yeah, no shipping confirmation for me either. I even ordered it before a friend of mine, who received his copy last night. Kind of assuming it'll show up sometime this week.
Immensely beautiful packaging, though. I can't believe the amount of quality attached to the price-tag. TRL delivers yet again.
-
I suppose it had to be done sooner than later.
-
I thought this was going to be a 2X10 but every time I see it in a store it looks like a single 12". Was I completely mistaken when I thought it was gonna be 2X10?
In addition to the [pricier] 02 x 10" version, there's also...
Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.
I really don't have any idea what this means, but it sounds like it could be promising. I'm picturing some kind of transparent plastic case, with the large art as a backdrop. Vinyl would probably be held in place somewhere in the middle, and then some kind of shredded paper (confetti?) featuring miniature art... stuffed everywhere else. I could be entirely off, but I suppose it'll be interesting regardless.
-
Hear, hear. I'll be entertaining the idea of potential hope until someone official shoots it down. We need to make this a thing of the past.
I've never done a P/O through Amazon, but I really do enjoy the idea of "locked in" low prices. Are they pretty trustworthy with fulfilling orders correctly? Packing records adequately? Certainly a route I'm willing to explore.
-
Not sure anything's set for a "round 3"
That's what I recall you saying... I guess I just misread the SRC announcement. They made it sound like something was definitely in the works. Or maybe it's just me.
-
I'd like to own a copy, too, but there's no way that I can justify the price. There's been chat and rumors - on and off - about a possible repress on the horizon. I personally think it's just a matter of time, and have no issue waiting it out if it saves me $100+. Nothing is remotely official, but it's at least food for thought.
-
No problem. From what I can gather, he's looking for some pretty exorbitant prices. You'd probably do just as well scoping eBay. Just a heads up.

RSD on SRC

If waiting 24 hours would have allowed them to dodge that bullet, then that sucks.
Immensely.
May even blow, too.
