  1. It's definitely better than Appeal To Reason. In the first song, Tim calls out Tom Gabel: "Do you remember when you were young and you wanted to set the world on fire? Well I am, and I still do."

How would you compare it to their previous work, style or quality wise? I didn't mind ATR, but it definitely paled in comparison to TSATW. Do most of the songs sound like they were written exclusively for radio play?

  2. congrats on it already at $500. cannot believe that number 27 went for 1000.

Hah, if it puts your mind at ease, I'm 99% confident that the "winner" of that auction knew it was a fake, and intentionally put in a massive bid that he has no intentions of paying. Whether or not he had a friend in on it is questionable, too, since someone obviously had to bid < $1,025. Either way, dude's not getting his money.

Scotty's copy for $500 is ridiculous, too, assuming the buyer is for serious. I'm not sure that I've legitimately seen one go up that high, honestly.

  3. Broke $200. Go go go!

before i got into vinyl i spent some time collecting posters (still do) and this print is highly regarded in the community. so much that there was a HUGE fiasco when someone was reprinting these and selling them and ripping tons of people off.

The infamous #27 Kellum copies. There's actually one on eBay, right now, currently going for double the price of Scotty's. Crazy stuff.

  4. Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. DW also has the black variant in stock for $22. I'd rather support the label than Rev HQ, if it came down to purchasing an extra.

Deafmx hit the nail on the head, though. Easily the most practical approach, and I hadn't even considered it. Cheers for the suggestion. And if that flops...

I bet you'd catch one under $20 within the next couple months.

This may be worth a shot. I'll leaf through one of the booklets and see just how many I need. I'm assuming two would suffice. But even then, at $30 - $35 for two lucky auctions... meh.

Solid places to start. My wallet and I thank you all.

  5. Yeah, I figured as much... it's kind of a long shot. I seriously don't need any more variants cluttering up my place, though. I wouldn't mind paying for the records if the price was right, but together with the booklet, I'm looking at $15 or $20 minimum. I'll probably just scour eBay for the common variants. If I do wind up with a bunch of extra copies, though, I'll probably sell them for the cost of shipping. Or donate them to the homeless.

    *edit*

Aaand... ridiculous. I had no idea that the most common (or rather, second-to-most-common) variants were going for $60 on eBay. Not holding my breath on this project, but I'll do $10 PPD for anyone who's remotely interested.

  6. An odd request, I know. I've been doing some wall re-arranging, and stumbled across a killer deal on frames. Long story short, I'm looking for one or three of the 28-page booklets that accompanied last year's Jane Doe deluxe press. Not sure if anyone's willing to part with their booklet... but if you're not crazy about it, for whatever reason, and would still like to keep the record itself... I'd be willing to pay a fair amount for it. It's more of an idea I'm toying with, so I'm not going to dent the wallet over it. Either way - let me know if you can help a guy out. Would totally appreciate it.

  7. same

i'd also like to see explosions in the sky - how strange, innocence. it was never actually released on vinyl. so that would be awesome. who knows what the odds are of that happening.

Well, couldn't it be considered unofficially released? The band produced a limited amount, and made custom jackets for them, as far as I know. I'd love to own it, too... just not for $400. Fingers crossed for an official press or re-release.
