I'm starting to believe this band is cursed when it comes to pressing their music.
Either that, or people are freaking out about the normal range of shortcomings that can physically affect vinyl records in general.
Na, it's pretty bad. The first minute of the A/B sides have a horrible static noise. VMP have acknowledged there is an issue, they think it was a stamper problem. They are going to repress.

I finally listened to my VMP copy. It has very bad surface noise for the first 45 seconds and then the rest of it sounds great.
There's been loads of people reporting the sound issue. Have you complained to VMP?

Grabbed a Coraline.

I love how Mike Park keeps his records' prices so low, especially while the other variants in the same pressing cost 5 dollars more. Big Big up.
Plus the shipping. It was $50 shipped from storm chasers and $30 shipped from Asianman.

So the box set I ordered from Amazon is never going to ship, is it?
Rough Trade UK has it in stock but it's not cheap:

I've got the 2017 ALK3 presses and don't remember them ever sounding bad. I've listened to them for a while but will dig them out and give them a spin.

Rarewaves had this album in stock a few weeks ago on eBay. Picked it up for $22 shipped. No idea what pressing it is but it's black vinyl.

Just wanted to check back in all this time later. Never thought we'd get official stuff so soon but here we are... This is getting serious and incredibly interesting!
This Joe Rogan episode with Commander Fravor is pretty good (he seems legit):

From Autumn to Ashes in there, will probably pick that up along with a few others.
TGUK live album would be cool too.

Was this available on colour? 🙃
I never really thought about this before but do Canadians spell "colour" properly or do they spell it American?

Dine Alone store working fine plus I think it was cheaper.

Anyone get shipping info on Superbloom 7”?
Yes, I got 2 7" through at the weekend - White Shadow and Superbloom. No sign of the box yet though. I am in UK so maybe their distribution is different.

I haven't seen anyone mention this anywhere, but I was kind of let down after first hearing deloused.
As if it wasn't enough that the mov pressing has a much sturdier and nicer outer sleeve than the boxset version, whoever remastered the lacquer for the box decided to take some creative liberties and added a fade at the end of Eriatarka. Why they would do this is beyond me. The transition between that song and Cicatriz always gets me pumped, but with the added fade, some of the energy is lost.
This might seem like nit picky bullshit for some people, and it is, but it really rubs me the wrong way.
I’ve listened to the CH vinyl a few times now and never even noticed. Still planning on comparing to the MOV release but haven’t got around to it yet.

One of the first review videos, the n00b was spouting off about crematorium and not even showing the vinyl. 🤷 The world's a strange place.
The fucking creamatorium. That’s all I hear now.

No regrets getting the box cause it's pretty awesome but I might double dip on DitC and FtM depending on what the deal is.

Seems to be up on UK site:

In my experience with other box sets, the mere pulling out and replacing of albums from the set creates shiny scuff wear in the direction of the pull on the front and back faces of the jackets regardless of the coating (matte, gloss, high gloss, etc.). Its usually only visible under certain angles of light. Might be wise to bag each album inside the box. Shouldn't add too much more thickness to contend with the inner capacity of the box enclosure.
I think I'll do that. Even if it means keeping the albums that will get more playing time out of the box . I'm going to replace the inner sleeves too.
-
The sleeve for Mr. Muggs in my box was pretty trashed. I don’t know how that happened but can only assume someone fucking jammed it in and bent it. I’m going to see if I can get a replacement sleeve. I also have a small scuff on the de-loused jacket which I’m not too fussed about but if they have a replacement then I’ll take it.
Overall the box set is decent and the 4 albums I’ve listened to so far sound great. My only (minor) criticism (apart from the vinyl weight issue) is the shitty paper sleeves they used. It takes away from the overall quality of the box.

What's actually hilarious is English is his second language... and he DID use them right. At least in that post above he did. Is English your second language?
Yeah, I can let that slide but I can’t forgive his use of “vinyl s”. Surely he means Grailz.
I just noticed this site autocorrects vinyl(s) to vinyl 😆

Sure thing, that’s what I was addressing. It’s one thing to air a little grievances about it, wish for a statement and move on, but some people go ahead and feel entitled to demand a repress of 90k records because of a weight difference. It’s delusional.
I think part of the issue that got peoples’ backs up was the owner’s stop bitching comment when someone complained.
I agree though, repressing 90k records is not really an option and I suspect most people who bought the box set would rather have it as is rather than not at all.

I am gonna' go out on a limb and guess that the general Tool fanbase is neither surprised nor stoked with this drop. FB comment sections and Reddit, especially, are riddled with comments from users trying to champion for vinyl reissues. Like it's the prevalent ask with the most likes, sub-comments, and attention. (Outside of, maybe, tour demands.) Anyone in the band or affiliated with their social media can instantly recognize the demand. They're either trolling the shit out of their fans or just unfathomably lazy, at this point.
I do wonder what will become of that "deluxe packaging" posted on the last page, with whatever it may be. Even if it's a jumbo hardcover book to house some CDs, I was expecting something music-related to get released in the store today. Silly assumption on my end, I know.
I can totally imagine them releasing a hardcover book CD anthology set.
I'd probably buy it too.

I got an email from them stating the repress. Both my initial copy and replacement copy had the sound issue.
I had to send them videos of the issue.
