  1. Cars are the fucking worst. Here's my history (since I'm bored at work): Car #1 = 1985 American General (aka: USPS Mail Truck) - Caught on fire while I was installing a new radio - Air horn got stuck for 5 straight minutes; cops were not impressed - Couldn't drive it on the freeway Car #2 = 1991 Chevy Blazer - Had it for 8 days; totaled it on the way back from a NOFX/Youth Brigade concert in Ventura, CA, during "El Nino" Car #3 = 1990 GMC Jimmy - 13 blown out/flat tires - Caught on fire while I was driving on the freeway - All sorts of random mechanical problems, one after the other - Was red and had weird pin-striping from the previous owner, so cops in Irvine, CA, (where I was living at the time) always assumed I didn't belong in the city and pulled me over repeatedly, only to discover I was white at which point they'd make up a lame excuse and let me go (gotta love profiling in OC) Car #4 = 2004 Chevy Colorado - Has had myriad undiagnosable problems since I bought it new... it's still a piece of shit 5 1/2 years later Car #5 = 2008 Saturn Vue Hybrid - Had myriad undiagnosable problems within 600 miles of buying it new; luckily we got it returned to the dealer for a full refund under CA's "Lemon Law" And the sad thing is, I'm sure there's more shit I'm forgetting.
  2. And I still don't have a full-time job. Ah, the American Dream! (Not looking forward to moving all my shit again, but whatever.)
  3. In the spirit of downsizing, I've updated my record list with a bunch of shit I'm willing to part with (either via sale or trade). Everything that's up for grabs has an "X" next to it in the leftmost column. Check it out here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pPjOlAlyrKiUk7GllhbavFA I'll probably put some set price stuff up when I have some time in the next few days, but in the meantime feel free to PM me with offers.
  4. I'm already on team FLICKER FOR MOTHERFUCKING MOD. I don't have room in my life to add another cause.
  5. Just finished ME1, which means I'm now insanely pumped for ME2. Only I have no spare cash. Ugh.
  6. Bad assumption. There's always been a high turnover rate among SNL cast members. People are used to that. The current stable just sucks. As do the writers. Pretty much the only funny things I've seen from SNL over the past few years have been prerecorded (Lazy Sunday, Dick in a Box, Peyton Manning's "United Way" sketch, etc). Nothing live has been worth a damn.
  7. Finally on the last level (Ilos) of Mass Effect. Hit level 50 on the last planet -- and bought all the Spectre gear (with 4 million credits to spare) so killing things has been a helluva lot easier. I take back all the negatives (except the graphical/freezing glitches) from earlier. This is a great fucking game.
  8. Agreed. I really like the demo versions of "Dividers" and "Baggage" a lot.
  9. Just play the 2nd one regardless of whether or not you finish the 1st. It's really good, really different, and stands fine on its own.
  10. I only remember having 5 songs that actually made it onto the album. were there more floating around? And funny, I thought the other one that got cut, the "Are your really listening?" song, was the best...one of their best songs since then. I liked both of the unreleased songs the best. And "Problems" is the best of the released demos, I think.
  11. Domination is my go-to game type. It's fun, unless you get stuck with a bunch of people who play like it's TDM and completely disregard the flags.
  12. Sucks. RIP. [Fun fact: He's my cousin (4th or 5th... can't remember).]
  13. So I'm really into Mass Effect finally. I think I was initially lukewarm on it because I got too bogged down in side missions (see: repetitive and boring). This is a really good game... and combat outside of the Mako is so much more manageable.
  14. Awwww... it's so generous of the band to come up with 20% all on their own. That's the problem with so many bands today -- all they want is a handout. But not these enterprising young men. They're willing to put their money where there mouth is and actually scrounge up a whole $500 between the 3 or 4 or 5 (or 9, if they're a ska band) of them to support what they truly love. I mean, who can expect the guys who are actually IN the band to front recording money for their OWN project? We're talking insane amounts amounts of money, like maybe $833 or $625 or $500 (or $278, if they're a ska band) per person! Who can expect such an ubiquitous band to have the time to raise all that money on their own to RE-RELEASE their first album on vinyl? Besides, band members that invest too heavily in their own band are always so self-absorbed. It should be about the music! In summary: free money to press a record + even freer money in sales of said record = a business plan we can all be proud of. If you don't donate to this worthy cause, then the terrorists have surely won.
  15. I certainly don't see him hitting 20 HR as a role player. Or as a regular for that matter. He's never done it in his career (even before the HGH allegations) and his OPS has been regressing towards the mean ever since his "career" year (which, let's be honest, wasn't really all that great anyway). Take away a handful of highlight reel catches in 2006, and he never even sniffs a contract as ridiculous as the one the Angles gave him the following year.
  16. I fail to see where the "high" reward would be though. He's a 4th or 5th OF at best. The resources would better be spent elsewhere, especially for a team that's in such disarray.
  17. The Mets traded a RP and are paying Matthews $2.5MM. Seems like a shitty deal for them. Matthews SUCKS. He sucks on offense. He sucks on defense. And the Mets could have just re-signed Jeremy Reed for half that amount if they needed another OF -- and kept their RP in the process.
  18. You guys lied to me. I didn't see Billy Joel OR Amanda Peet. The only famous people up there during the jam session were Ben Harper, Beck, Billy Gibbons and Will Ferrell. The pregnant hippie chick is Will Ferrell's wife.
