  1. I talked to one of the PR guys at Victory yesterday and he said there are no solid plans to release the new DH on vinyl, but that it has been discussed. I encouraged him to check out this site to see how many people are interested in this. So We'll see I guess.
  2. I ordered it from Inoxia, hoping to get one of the first 100 or whatever. They come with some extra screened something-or-other.
  3. Aquarius Records is great. They always seem to have rare, hard-to-find stuff when no one else does. I've never been in the store, but I mailorder stuff from them freequently. They are located at 1055 Valencia Street, San Francisco, California 94110 hours are Monday-Wednesday 10am-9pm / Thursday-Sunday 10am-10pm tel 415.647.2272 / fax 415.647.3447 email [email protected] http://www.aquariusrecords.org/
  4. You guys should also look around on Steve Hoffman's site. There's stuff about how mastering is done, which is just amazing. There's also a ton of info about sound quality, record reissues and a lot more. www.SteveHoffman.tv
  5. I kind of get annoyed by all the repressing. I'm in favor of repressing a record if you give it different artwork, or if there are new songs, etc... But just repressing a record for no other reason than the fact that you can make a bucket of money is lame. Don't get me wrong, I'm a full-blown capitalist and anything record labels have to do to stay afloat is cool with me. But as a collector, it's a little annoying sometimes. Now the jazz reissues are great. I love those. You get a high-quality version of a record that's been out of print for like 40 years
  6. I'd be interested to see how they make all the different variations of colored vinyl. I'm assuming the biscuits are made all swirly or whatever, but I'd like to see it done.
  7. OH MAN, I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT MY GOBLIN COCK PICTURE DISC!!!! If you haven't seen one, look it up here: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music/goblincock11.jpg It's the most heinous, un-PC thing I've ever seen. And the name of the band alone makes it worth having.
  8. I agree with everyone else that doesn't like picture discs. I have a few (the Jello Biafra with art by Winston Smith stands out in my mind) but I, too, would choose black any day.
  9. You have to get your order in early. I framed the mailer my "No Heroes" LP came in. It's that cool.
  10. It sounds like we have a pretty big concensus on the Norma Jean box set. Let's see that happen!
  11. I would love to have A Life Once Lost's "Hunter" on vinyl. It's a really good album and they're super tight live. They actually pull off all that technical guitar madness on stage, which is kind of amazing.
  12. Even if you did get someone to bootleg you a record, it'd still be way cooler than a burned CD. The bottom line is this: CDs suck.
  13. Here's a link to one place http://www.shellshock.co.uk/product_info.php?selected_cat=HH666124&artist=Pelican&Label_filter=Hydra%20Head
  14. Usually Conspiracy Record in Europe has Hydra Head stuff first on vinyl.
  15. I'm just saying, anyone willing to pay $400 for something that can be easily reproduced is out of their mind. And yeah Dim, that does kind of sound like Dover.
  16. CD "collecting" is the biggest joke ever. First off, a CD is only worth about $1.00 when it's made. The paper inside is worth more than the cd itself. With reproduction being as easy as it is these days, it's even more of a joke.
  17. A Norma Jean box set would be off th chain. I'd be on that hard.
  18. Yeah, that one's kind of ugly too. But it's a really good record, huh?
  19. Yeah, it's weird. Christopher Daniel Taylor did the artwork for Pig Destroyer's "Painter of Dead Girls" and (I think) "Terrifyer." He also did the art for Darkest Hour's "Undoing Ruin." Now, John Baizley did the cover art for the new DH record, as well as the new Pig Destoyer album. Coincidence? I think not.
  20. Has anyone heard anything about the new DH record coming out on vinyl? The artwork is beautiful. It would be a shame if they didn't press it. I'm still pissed about "Hidden Hands.."
  21. I refuse to believe anyone thinks that record is beautiful. It's probably the ugliest color vinyl I've ever seen. It's neat looking and weird, but it is NOT "gorgeous." hahah. Sorry, that's how I feel. Love the record and all, but it's a funky color no doubt.
  22. My wife and I have had some pretty serious "discussions" about my buying habbits. I'm supposed to spend no more than $50 a month, and I've done a pretty good job of it, with a couple of exceptions. It's a good idea to set a budget for yourself if you're in a relationship. Records might be important to you, but you have to keep in mind that if you're compromising your relationship or endangering your family's ability to pay bills, etc., then you're no better than some fat, white trash lady sitting in a pile of beanie babies in a mobile home with a broken down car in the yard. And I just realized I spent over $100 TODAY on records and I feel like a chump. Take it from me, record collector of the month, spending a lot of money on ANYTHING is stupid if you don't need it. Get yourself a budget.
  23. ... but I wanted to take a second to say thanks to Virgil for putting this whole community together. I've looked for something like this place for a long time and I'm really happy it finally exists. Vinylcollective.com and the message board are a great resource and I'm stoked to be part of it. Good work bro.
  24. Thanks Loren. I went over to their site and ordered that for the wife.
  25. Does anyone have any of his records they want to sell? I have Makers and the new one on pre-order so I don't need those. My wife loves the guy and I refuse to buy her CDs if I can help it.
