The coolest thing about Darkest Hour is that they genuinely are really nice guys. They put on a killer show, then hang with the audience for as long as it takes (to get drunk). I have a lot of respect for a band that can make crazy death metal and not end up acting like a bunch of deathmetal wankers.

pressing info: darkest hour - undoing ruin
oakland replied to robotnerd's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
All I know is I'm getting a test pressing in the mail any day now. Super stoked. -
Imagine what it was like for us old guys before the Internet. I used to mailorder everything. And most places had this deal where you could call and pre-order something, then you had to get payment to them within ten days. So I found this 7" I'd been looking for forever, super rare, and I preordered it. This was in about 1992. I sent the money order to the record store, which was in Boston (I was in Delaware, about a 5 hour drive away). Well, my money order didn't get there in 10 days because of the F-ing postal service and I didn't get the 7". I finally found the record on ebay about 6 months ago. I paid $40 for it. Back then it would have been about $7.

Man, it looks like you have about 10 copies each of about 20 records.

I have a rad An Albatross slipmat I got for free when I ordered their record from GSL. I love it.

talked to my boy at Victory again today and he said it looks like they ARE going to do vinyl for the new record. I'm stoked.

Yeah, now if they would only do a special vinyl edition of "Hidden Hands.." That's probably my favorite DH record. It's exactly the length of an 8-mile bike ride I used to take in Alabama when I lived there.

The Explosion-Flash Flash Flash

I thought it was kind of crazy how so many people were all about this band, then all of a sudden, when Black Tape came out, you never heard another word about them. They were unbelievable in the beginning. -

There's also an Isis full-on discography box set planned. That's pretty wild. -
Pretty sure the Enter double lp is a mistake. He mistyped I'm sure.

Best/Worst/Favorite distros for vinyl
oakland replied to jacobe's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Funny you should mention Interpunk I've bought a lot from Interpunk over the years, and nothing's ever been damaged, but sometimes it is packed weird. The other day I got one LP in a huge box. Just one record and a bunch of paper. That can't be the most economical way to ship something. Also agree on Robotic Empire. They update a lot and constantly have super hard to find stuff. I recently got first-pressing copies of two records that are on like their 4th pressing. It's crazy over there. -
pressing info: thrice-artist in the ambulance

If you are new to collecting, let me give you some advice: collect what you like. You can easily go broke or crazy trying to buy everything you "should" buy because it's collectible. You won't as happy with a collection of money-makers as you will with records you really like. "Artist in the Ambulance" is a great record by the way. My copy is also white. -
I'd like to have that "Breed the killers." It's easily my favorite Earth Crisis record.

Another Delawarean? Jeez, this place is thick with First-staters. -
Best/Worst/Favorite distros for vinyl

Vinyl Ink, Silver Spring Md. Best ever. The guy that ran it, George, died a few years ago. I wrote an obituary for him in Rockpile Magazine because that store/distro completely altered my musical taste . Growing up in rural hell hole, that place was the only thing that kept me sane. I would mailorder records from Vinyl Ink every week when I was like 12. When he died, so did Vinyl Ink. There wasn't anything like it for me until Vinyl Collective came along. -

That thing is beautiful. Worth the money in my opinion. -

I got mine from Japan today -- with the stencil. No big deal I guess, but it's nice to have the most limited edition version. -
Love the guy. I have pretty much everything, except all the Christmas stuff

I'd rather have an original-looking record that's a bit ugly any day. I'm just saying, that's a pretty ugly color. I think a lot of the gold variations are kind of ugly. Like when a kid is finger painting and mixes all the colors together to make that weird brownish yellow goo.

Alkaline Trio - Crimson info?
oakland replied to benchwarmer's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I have a sealed 180 gram version of this if anyone wants it. It has a very small "cutout" hole in the upc, but other than that it's in brand-new condition. -
I'm not hating at all. I'm just saying it's an ugly color. Who cares? I forgot that kids into punk and hardcore aren't allowed to have personal opinions, just like the rest of society.
