  1. Russian Circles has a new record coming out you know.
  2. I have some Tesco Vee flexi at home. I'll have to dig it out.
  3. I don't have any idea. I think it was an email about the contest. Must have bought something from Suburban Home.
  4. Yeah, it would fit in the box. And I think a red-white-and blue would be hot.
  5. A little word about Throwdown: these guys sound a lot like Pantera. It's no secret. Well, on their last record, in the thank yous in the back, along with their guitar strings and drumsticks, they listed Panerra Bread Co. and it's "Vulgar Array of Flour." I don't care who you are or what music you like, that is hilarious. I laughed about that for a week.
  6. Well, Robotnerd, I picked up an extra copy of the Zozobra 180g LP. Could be your lucky day.
  7. I was thinking make an extra batch of inner sleeves, so we can buy with or without the outer sleeve. That way, if you've got the box set you don't end up throwing away the outer sleeve. Just a waste.
  8. I'm the leading authority on Cave In on this site, so I'll lay it out for you: Jupiter is the best. Antenna would have been a pretty good rock record if some other band did it. Perfect Pitch Black, upon relistening many times, is an awesome album. It's also on vinyl finally, which helps. The band most likely will be doing one last record at some point, once touring for Clouds, Zozobra, etc. has cooled down. This from Caleb. Check out my story on Zozobra in the next issues of Thrasher (or maybe the one after that).
  9. Thanks, sometimes skumbucket's posts make me think I've lost my mind. It sounded to me, SB, like you were saying doing two versions would be too expensive.
  10. Why would that be hard to do? Just order less outer jackets than you do inner sleves. Simple.
  11. Vinyl Collective should do a certain number of these just in full-art slipcovers (like the box set) for people that have the box set. Then we can just slip them right in there. Problem solved!
  12. yeah really, is hardcore supposed to be the opposite of Christianity. I'd say they both preach a similar message: unity, taking care of each other, good vs. evil. That said, I think most Christian rock music sucks too. I interviewed David Bazan about that very subject one time and he totally agreed (he's a well-known Christian). He said it's bad because it's about the message first and the music second. Take a band like 108, or Cro-mags: The preach for sure, but their concentration is on the music.
  13. I really like "Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent." Most people say "Shape..." is their favorite, but I'm still up in the air. I certainly love it, I just like them all.
  14. The Sunny Day record with the playmobile dudes is really cool.
  15. I'm always surprised at the kind of people that like Sublime. I don't get it personally. I do have a cool Sublime CD though. It's got my full name printed right on it. It's part of their watermarking system so reviewers can't post music on the Internet without the record company finding out who did it. I hate the band, but it's kind of neat. A one-of-a-kind CD.
  16. I like TR. The Grails double LP is beautiful.
  17. No, I lived in Alabama for about 18 months. Our monthly trip to New Orleans was the only thing that kept me sane. I was close to going over the edge when I lived down there. Bacause of that, NO holds a special place in my heart and always will. Seeing what happened broke my heart.
  18. Magic Bus was awesome. I'd go in there, take a load of stuff to the counter, and he'd give me a deal just because he liked my taste. Then, when I called him up at his place in Austin, he totally remembered me from the 2 or 3 times I came to his place. He even said he remember that I turned him on to a little record store in Alabama, so I know he wasn't BSing me. Solid guy. If you ever want to mailorder jazz records look him up online. What was the place about half way down magazine St. Called? It was just east of the Garden District. They had a pretty good selection of new metal/stoner stuff, but the prices were unbelievable. Man, I miss New Orleans so much it hurts.
  19. I realized the other day to my amazement that I don't have this record. Thought I did. Anyway, if you've got it and want to part with it, let me know. Thanks, O
  20. I went to see Unsane and 400 blows a couple weeks back and was surprised to see Mouth of the Architect was on the bill as well. I'd never heard them, but i'd read they were good and that These Arms Are Snakes' bass player played on their record. Well, I was totally blown away. They sound a little like the Isis/Neurois sort of thing, but with some pretty original stuff of their own thrown in. Needless to say I picked up their double LP and have been enjoying it immensly. It's still pretty widely available, but I'm guessing it will be a much sought after record in years to come. Don't sleep.
  21. There was a rad record store in New Orleans called Magic Bus. He survied the storm but his customers didn't. After it was all over he just stayed in Austin because everyone in NO lost their collections. That is the shittiest thing I've ever heard.
  22. I traveled with the Warped Tour in 1997 as a journalist. It was a great experience, but it wasn't as fancy as it is today. We lived like dogs. Still, getting to see the Descendents every day was pretty awesome.
  23. Listen, winning that contest was no easy feat. I seriously obsessed over that picture for days. I ended up figuring out more records than Virgil had listed just by the color of the spine and what would logically come next on the rack. I earned that $100 buddy.
  24. Nice. I feel like I barely had my day in the sun, then you took over.
