  1. I'd go with a steel frame. The single speed bike is nice, it has a flip-flop hub (which I have) so you can ride track or just single speed so you can coast. It's all personal preference. Take a ride on a single speed, take a ride w/ gears.
  2. ah bummer, it doesn't work if you have "alumni.edu". oh well.
  3. yeah, there's a legit bike shop that's been around forever not more than a mile from my house. i've been there a couple times to get my old bike's brakes fixed and the guys who work there really know their stuff. i'm really leery of purchasing stuff like this online, because when i buy something that costs this much, i want to make sure it's right and that it'll last me awhile. i don't like having to repurchase things. yea, go there and talk to them. multiple times. it took us about 2 months to find a good bike fit for my wife. we went to about 4-5 shops and talked to lots of different people, and tried out lots of different bikes. when you find the right one, you'll know.
  4. everything will need a tune-up. brakes, tires could be fine, probably new tubes, depends on the rust, could need a new chain. bring it to a bike shop and have them give you an estimate for a tune up. if you like the bike and it fits you well, just do that, it will save you money.
  5. definitely go to a bike shop, and I mean an actual bike shop. There are lots of different aspects for fitting someone to a bike, more than just frame size. you want to make sure you have the correct saddle, seat height, handlebars, stem height. lots of that stuff can be a pain to figure out yourself, and a pro will help! I'd also advise against getting one online via craigslist or anywhere else unless you've tried it out before. you might also want to look into getting a "commuter" bike. these are usually a streamlined version of a hybrid. they're light and great to get around. stay away from target and wallmart. I have a Fuji, and I love it, and my wife just got a trek.
  6. I will probably go to the Boston date, even though I'll be the oldest guy there.
  7. exactly. I said in the original post that you should PM me if you think something should be added. I don't have the time to check every thread all day.
  8. alrighty then, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread as it's moved away from discussion (was it ever really? not sure) and into slinging disgusting insults back and forth. thanks!
  9. follow me as I await my iPhone 4 to show up! (in the sig, or www.twitter.com/chrismyk)
  10. I wasn't surprised that it sounded like it did, I was just let down that it was so boring and I couldn't even listen to the whole thing.
  11. good one! really enjoy his blog. also this quote is great: “Don’t buy music on a format that you can record at home. It becomes disposable.”
  12. Just wanted to let everyone know that staropramen has been warned about his use of racist and hate speech. It is not allowed on these forums, and others have been banned because of it as well.
  13. my brain started to boil around page 13. but I'm stoked to find out there are dinosaurs in the bible.
  14. really? I thought it was kind of painful to watch.
  15. I've liked every season. Great show. I agree that some of the newer season weren't that great, but once you re-watch them, for some reason, they were a lot funnier.
