Favorite lesser known Pop-Punk bands?
throwingstars replied to enyfour5's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Dear Landlord "Dream Homes". IMO, one of the best pop-punk albums of the last decade. -
I've been going to BR shows since 1993 and have met everyone in the band. If you see enough shows, your bound to run into some of them at the merch table, outside the venue or walking around the crowd. I've met Graffin a few times and he was surprisingly friendly each time. I had always heard he can be a little stand offish but I've never experienced that. Jay Bentley is by far the most friendly. If you can find him, chat him up and snap a quick photo with him then let him be. Much better than having their autographs imo.

Help choosing a preamp
throwingstars replied to Levi79's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
This may be a little late, but I recently bought an Edwards Audio phono preamp from Music Direct. It was reasonable at $175 and sounds great. I have it paired up with a Jolida 202B tube amp and it sounds great. Highly recommended if you are on a budget. -
Anyone got an extra ticket to the Dillinger 4 show
throwingstars replied to a topic in Everything Else Message Board
I'm pretty sure they are still going to have the D4'th of July show. I guess I'll just hit that up. -

If I can find a scalper. Debating on whether or not to make the 2 hour drive up there just in case. -

I'm in the same boat buddy. Pissed at myself for not buying tickets earlier. Should be a great show. -

Lobster Recods Vault - OOP Records
throwingstars replied to srcvinyl's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
NO SHIT - Much The Same played the Staring Back show I saw. What was your bands name? Did you guys ever come to Chicago? Never played Chicago. We were from Iowa and just got lucky enough to play that show. It was tons of fun. My band was called Kagero. We recorded an EP but never ended up releasing anything before we broke up. -

I still listen to that record daily! Other than lifetime they were playing melodic hardcore/pop punk that paved the way for bands like transit and syg. They would have fit in perfectly now My old band played with these guys and Much the Same several years ago. Both bands were great. Tons of energy for a show during the middle of the week in late fall in Iowa. Man I miss those days.... -
Opinions on Bad Religions- Dissent of man
throwingstars replied to beneathbelow's topic in Everything Else Message Board
You should definitely pick it up man. I think it is probably the closest they have come to a perfect Bad Religion album. Take out 1-2 songs and it is terrific. It has a great flow to it and some of the catchiest melodies they have written so far. Of course, I've been a huge BR fan since 1991 so I'm a little biased. For a band of mid 40 year olds, they really bring game. -
Anyone listen with headphones?
throwingstars replied to throwingstars's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I looked at these too but haven't heard them yet. I was wondering if they were built for listening to stuff with extra deep low end? I'm not looking for extra bass in the mix necessarily. But I will check them out. -

Thanks guys. Those Beyer's look nice. Now I just need to save up. -
I'd love to pick up some new headphones for my setup and was wondering what you guys use? I've been looking at some Sennheiser and Audio Techinica models. Does anyone have a preference?
