  1. I have a new turntable and I have issues once in awhile too. I'm sure my equipment is not setup properly but this is something I've had issues with as well. I have a shit ton of records but know very little about the equipment that I play it on.
  2. I think its mostly accurate but I'm not sure I would go so far as to skewer the character of someone I've never met. I don't need to meet Brett Favre to know he's a douchebag. Same principle applies here.
  3. That's pretty scathing Also 1000% accurate.
  4. Nice article on LeBroom: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebroncalipari051410
  5. I agree but I believe that's the only way they are offering the album at this point.
  6. His words DO run hollow and he IS a major front-runner. If that couldn't have been noticed in the past week then I have some property in Florida to sell you. He couldn't get his jersey off fast enough coming out of the tunnell.
  7. Hot Chip- One Life Stand (Completely underrated- GREAT album) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings- I Learned The Hard Way The Soft Pack- Eponymous Surfer Blood- Astro Coast (I swore this was a 2009 release. I feel like it's been out forever) The National- High Violet New official releases to come from Wolf Parade and Arcade Fire. I'm sure they'll be on this list by year's end.
  8. How can you say Generation is the only one worth going into if Bleeker Street is owned by the same people? The problem with NYC record stores is that you're just not going to find a deal on good used records anymore. It's so picked over in the area but hey it comes with the territory. Brooklyn - Permenant Records is a great store. A lot of indie and has one of the better funk/soul collections in the area. Nothing like Dusty Groove in Chicago but still pretty solid. - Sound Fix is the perfect place to meet all your indie needs. - Ear Wax is okay but nothing terrific. Most of the stuff here you can find at Sound Fix but if you price shop sometimes you'll save a couple of bucks here or there by getting it at the right store. - Academy- Don't waste your time. Manhattan - Generation Records and Subterranean for any punk needs in the city. - Other Music is THE Manhattan indie store as well as the best selection of new 7"s and around the area. No question. Go into it expecting to overpay a buck or two for hard to find gems on new vinyl and you'll be pleased. If you expect to find anything for cheap at an uninformed store then you may end up slightly disappointed.
  9. There is a deal on Insound that gets you a free 7" with a pre-order of their new pic disc.
  10. Can't find the UK RSD thread to save my fucking life, but this was a surprise in that order for sure!:
  11. I wonder what this dude's into. Too bad I wasn't gay otherwise I could totally cross off that Sub-Zero fetish off the bucket list. http://www.punkmatch.com/members/2fangs2marks/ Oooh look he lives near me!!
  12. Congratulations! http://www.punkmatch.com/?s=free_db_search&aff_id=google&aff_pg=2&trs=1&aff_cp=MSP
  13. I stabbed myself once on accident and it was a quarter of an inch away from my heart. Another time while my boss at the time was being electricuted I grabbed him not knowing what was going on and was shot about 10 feet in the air and convulsed on the ground for a few seconds. I don't know...Do those count?
  14. Playing your records while watching the game = No auto-tune (unless your collection is comprised of auto-tune artists )
  15. I just downloaded Final Fantasy II on vitual console and have been knocking that out. The first couple in the FF series are terrific. Now it's just too much effort.
  16. i'm not gonna lie, it was pretty painful; especially because the guy she hired was not good at all and i felt like i was doing her some kind of disservice by just standing around in a bridesmaid dress. i even gave him my lenses to borrow because i knew he'd (hopefully) get better photos with them than what he was shooting with. i shot as much as i could at the reception and during the whole getting ready process, but obviously there was only so much that i could do. hopefully i was just being overly critical and her photographer's photos turn out better than i anticipate that they will! All those fish eye camera angles make it look like a Busta Rhymes video tryout.
  17. 1. Does that colorful fold-out box say Portugal The Man? Please posts titles with your pictures. If they are good, someone's going to want to know. 2. Someone took away my pic with that of Montreal 3. The pic of the packing peanuts is great. 4. There's always going to be "better" stuff out there but for $1.00, this was a pretty awesome value:
  18. I agree with what you are saying for the most part but I would argue, particularly the last 30 years, or growth and creation has not been for the better. I actually think the creating we've done lately has actually led to a society that's disprotionally removed from the rest of the earth. (See Typhoon out East where the only animals that died were humans). To me, all of our best inventions have already been discovered (Basic calculus and physics principles, etc), and we've gotten to the point in our lives that we waste our minds on such meaningless drivel, that we've stoped actually looking at or creating things that matter (American news media, reality tv, etc). I mean, the internet is great but you cannot tell me that the quality of life today is better than the quality of like 30-40 years ago. Plus Capitalism is on the brink of collapsing on itself. The combination of these factors will be the death of us and no, I don't believe there is any chance for long term survival. We'll be lucky when it's all said in done if another species anywhere can discover any written word that we've left behind. We've chewed this place up and eventually it's going to spit us out. Not that I necessarily blame humans per se, any animal with the same cognitive abilities as humans would've eventually fallen to the same demise.
  19. Thee Oh Sees. Great band and they are fun to collect on vinyl because they put out 6-7 vinyl releases a year.
  20. Again, purpose vs. practice. Changing the scale does not change the conditions. First of all, to make sure I respond appropriately to your comments, english is appreciated. Second, thinking about sensitive dependence seems like a futal exercise. Who cares if alternate things would happen if someone else would've done something differently? If I had boobs and a vagina I'd be a woman but I don't so I'm not. I don't understand the purpose of that discussion. Do we have to have a bigger "calling" or "reason"? It seems like people are obsessed with this concept as to subconsciously create some illusion of superior importance. To me, we are as purely material from the earth, only to one day have those resources be recycled back into something else. Similar to the life cycle of a leaf. Only the leaf is more productive and gives more back via photosynthesis.
  21. First, purpose and practice are two distinct concepts. The difference between what we do with our time and why that time exists. Should there not be a singular reason? We are all the same species... are we purely chaotic? If that were the case, sensitive dependence would be the only correct answer. I'm not sure if I want to believe that or not. We are here because of a lucky break in the infinite continuum that brought perfect conditions for us to grow, evolve, and reproduce. When it's all said and done, human beings will be a speck of a moment in time where we were lucky of enough to have thrived.
