  1. I feel like I need to go have some ridiculous sex so I have more stories to keep up haha
  2. I've been gathering my texture collection over the past 5 or so years so I have no idea where some of them are from but any that I didn't make either came from http://zentextures.com/ or http://lostandtaken.com/ and I've probably snagged some from http://www.bittbox.com/ as well. I've been using stuff from L&T the most lately. I make a lot of watercolor paint photoshop brushes as well. You can have the two most recent sets I've made if you wanna mess with them at all. http://www.mediafire.com/download/cz02kxzpw6yzger/edgedestroyspack6.abr http://www.mediafire.com/download/243hk8v9ns7mtlc/brushpack7.rar
  3. Dunno why it's taken me so long to get into this thread but I'm hype on it! I have a tumblr I use as a portfolio that probably has... 2% of the work I've done but it's got some of my stuff in it. I do a lot of freelance illustration for people on deviantart and junk like that which isn't really design so I don't post any of it in this. http://aftrmthart.com/ I also have a thing similar to ALyricADay if any of you were following that dude's work, mock album art made from lyrics. http://typographybreakdowns.tumblr.com/
  4. now that a howtobasic video is in here this is officially TOTY for me hands down. Also damn Ry your stories literally don't end. I think I ran out of good ones haha.
  5. It's already over unfortunately. Too bad, it was for that Neunaber Wet he uses. Definitely would've been keen to do some recordings with it but yeah, someone already got it! PS for those of you that use twitter, I made an account for my post rock tunes. I'm probably only gonna post when I'm writing, really bored or looking into new gear but have at it if you want. @AsSeasExhale
  6. Just now saw that Andy Othling (Lowercase Noises) is launching a site soon that's pretty much going to be dedicated to ambient guitarists and stuff. Gear to use, recording methods, all that stuff apparently. Might be cool. Figured I'd throw that out there for anyone else on here that's into making chill tunes. http://reverbnerds.com/coming_soon/home.html
  7. I'm actually thinking of not so much regifting but sharing that Grinch LP with whoever I get next year. I think it'd be funny if we all just sent it around amongst each other every christmas. Seems like a neat idea to have an record we've all played. Granted it'd take quite a few years for it to get around that much. Maybe we should do a christmas in july secret santa too?
  8. I'd say good luck but with a line like that, you don't even need it.
  9. THIS IS REALLY HARD BRIAN. I dunno haha, I'm just a dude that makes ambient/post rock tunes in my spare time. I try to make really expansive atmospheres and convey a lot of emotion in what I write. You can say whatever you think is appropriate, I trust your judgment!
  10. Thanks dude! I've gotten the post rock facebook page to post my stuff before and had some blogspots post my stuff but I don't really know what more to do than that. It's just me so I can't really tour or anything. I've never been sure how to promote myself very well haha. I need to get on that somehow! What would you want? A simple "hi I'm Steve and I write ballads for delay pedals" or some contrived 3rd person bio haha.
  11. I definitely want to ASAP! My Lush store is looking like we might make double bonus for holidays this year so I might have a few slammin paychecks to go blow there haha.
  12. http://asseasexhale.bandcamp.com/album/but-can-you-save-yourself-reprise Releasing this a day early because who cares why not. I broke the song into 4 tracks just because it's pretty long but yeah. Check it out if you want!
  13. One of my better ones haha. Almost as good as the time my roommate and I pretended to bang to norma jean in mascot costumes on chat roulette. I think we only got one person that was jerking off but he very surprisingly wasn't into it.
  14. I think it's pretty cool here. If you're into the theme parks at all that's obviously something to do. Lots of awesome places to eat. If you're one of those "it's raining/I'm bored, guess I'll go to the mall" kinda people we have two massive malls to go kill time in (our hottopic gets decent records in pretty often). I'm always on a tight budget so I don't go out and do much but there's definitely stuff to do. It's a major city so lots of tours/bands come through although I haven't been to many shows at all lately. The trade off with Orlando is that the traffic on I4 really sucks because there's so many retired old people and tourists. Accidents literally every day, but that aside I dig it. I've been slacking really bad on going and checking out local record shops around here but I've heard nothing but good stuff about Park Ave CDs and Rock And Roll Heaven.
  15. We had our christmas meeting at work today and I didn't have a trashy christmas sweater so I went dressed as a shitty pop punk band demoing a christmas cover EP.
  16. ^This. I'm sure you treating their daughter with love and respect is the only thing they'd expect in return. Seems like you're definitely overthinking it. It doesn't make you any less worthy of her whether you bought the ring or not. Spending a ton of money on a ring doesn't prove anything of your character or commitment, anyone can spend money on jewelry, disrespectful rich assholes do it all the time. I doubt you'd ever be seen as the son in law that didn't buy a ring (considering they offered one) rather than the son in law that was loving, understanding and supportive for their kid. It's not childish, irresponsible or lazy to accept help or generosity. Like I said, I know that's not really your style considering the stance you have on kickstarter you've spoken about on the Deadhorse FB page but I feel like even with a strong DIY mindset like your own one can't be too independent, stubborn or prideful to accept help with grace. Not that you're prideful but you're definitely a DIY guy haha.
  17. I know it's not really your thing to accept crazy stuff like that but I think in this case it's more than appropriate. It's not like some lazy spoiled trustfund mallcore band mooching off kickstarter for more than they need to produce a shitty album. It's her mom passing that down to her. It's Rachel's dream ring and her mom wants to keep it in the family so I don't think there's anything remotely wrong with accepting. There's a difference between blatant selfishness/entitlement and accepting generosity with humility which I'm sure is the only way you'd have it. I'd almost find it more upsetting to deny her the opportunity to play that part in her daughter's life and share something like that with her. It's VERY generous for sure but I think this is a case where it's more important to look at the emotional and sentimental value they would share over the actual pricetag a jeweler would put on it. Also congrats to you guys!!
  18. + I've been super productive musically lately and I'm close to finishing a track I'm really really proud of - Despite this, my computer crashes more than old people and tourist drivers combined on I4 here and whatever emotion comes after the most infuriated you can possibly be falls short of describing my hatred for it + Just ate a really awesome bagel
