  1. My question is, will that new Bear Grylls show "Worst Case Scenario" still be on tonight?
  2. Unfortunately, I don't see it ending any other way. There isn't much that can be said or done from where I am, and really I hate biding my time. EDIT: Just a note, the sad thing is I subscribe to the George Carlin line of thought, which isn't too far off from this guy. The difference is, while I don't think the planet needs humans, i don't think we're going to kill it. Sure we can do damage that will outlast our species by potentially millions of years, but in the lifespan of the planet that doesn't really matter. We'll all be long dead and gone and the Earth will recover and generate new life. It's impossible for human beings to "kill" the Earth. It is a giant, complex super-organism and human beings exist only because the Earth allows us to.
  3. You'll have to get through Ben Gibbard first. ...

  5. Sorry for the huge picture, I'm at work. Always had a thing for Kristen Wiig.
  6. This is one of the few bands that I like everything they've ever put out. I first got into them when How To Clean Everything came out, so I have a nostalgic soft spot for that album, and I still think Today's Empires is their best, but I've also really liked the last two albums. Bring on more Prop.
  7. If you can wait until Christmas, I'll sell you my copy of Seven's Travels.
  8. Still no refund or shipping confirmation and my order still says Open on their site.
  9. I downloaded Beat Hazard on Xbox Live Indie Games today. If you don't know what it is, it's sort of like that Audiosurf game, but a twin-stick shooter. If you don't know what Audiosurf is, Beat Hazard is a twin-stick shooter that uses the songs you have ripped to your 360 to generate the enemy patterns and stuff. Each song is a "level". The quieter the song is, the weaker your weapons are, and the more washed out and bleak the colors are. There are two different kinds of powerups, Volume and Power. Every time you pick one up, either the volume or power bar at the bottom of the screen fills up. (The song actually starts pretty quietly in the mix and then actually gets louder when you pick up a volume powerup.) When you have both bars filled up, you are in Beat Hazard mode and shit just pops off. And the game matches the songs EXACTLY. It's not like a visualizer that lags a second or two behind what is actually happening in your song. My first experience with this game was about an hour and a half ago. I turned it on with the intention of just checking out because I was in a bit of a hurry, and it automatically starts playing songs from your 360 as the menu music. Well, the song it chose was Purina Hall Of Fame by Propagandhi, and I immediately realized that would be the perfect song to test the game out with. So after the whole intro with the pig screaming, as soon as the song kicks in, my weapon that was shooting shitty little pebbles during the intro part is suddenly this bright yellow laser. I was immediately hooked. At the part right before the guitar solo, you get a little break and then as soon as the guitar solo comes in, the huge boss ship flies onto my screen. There were colors and lazers flying everywhere while my face was getting shredded by Jesus H. Chris' magical axe of doom. It was honestly one of my top 3 gaming moments of all time. The game is only 400 MS Points, and was probably the best 5 bucks I've ever spent. There are also tons of challenges and unlocks you get for doing stuff like beating a whole album, getting 100% on a 10 minute song, etc. I would suggest this game to anyone who likes fun and/or breathing.
  10. I will however apologize for being the first person to post something about Virgil owing someone money in this thread. I would hate to see every thread on this board turn into some kind of Anti-Virgil crusade. I like this board too much to see it go to shit over something that in all seriousness, probably affects less than 10% of the users on this board. I have had some problems with VC in the past, but I learned from it and never ordered from them again, so I don't really have anything against Virgil personally. It just bums me out to read all of these stories about all these distros - not just Virgil - fucking over the very labels and "scene" (for lack of a better term) that they claim to support.
  11. I don't see how it's overly mean. Besides, I was just fucking around. Someone was going to say it sooner or later. I really don't think that after everything that has been said about him, he's going to get butt-hurt about an off the cuff comment like that. Yes, it's definitely a shitty situation, but it's one that he put himself in. And I realize we don't have the whole story, but I don't think all of these people claiming that he owes them money are lying. If he wants to get rid of his stress, he should start rectifying the problem that is causing all of that stress - his debts. Personally, if I was in his situation, I would be trying to make sure my priorities were straight and not be buying records when I owe people money. It's as simple as that. I know it was only 18 bucks or whatever, but that money could be going towards a debt that needs to be repayed.
  12. i never heard anything, but I just got a refund through paypal I guess they figured you needed the money, due to your current financial situation and all.
  13. Maybe they're just randomly selecting orders to cancel. That would suck, but I can't see any other pattern here. I'm order 900 and haven't heard one way or the other yet.
  14. Blast Corps and Body Harvest are my two favorite N64 games. I also broke no less than 3 controllers playing 1080 Snowboarding.
  15. What else would you expect coming from a guy named Beard Inc.?
  16. I had to e-mail Matt @ No Idea about another issue yesterday and he initially said he thought mine had already gone out, but it turned out it was still there. So it sounds like some of the Canadian orders have shipped.
  17. My order still says "Open" on the Jade Tree store, but I paid with Paypal so that could be why.
  18. I hate to be the guy who quotes Jon Stewart when it comes to stuff like this, because sadly that's where a large number of people get 100% of their political / world news from, but he made a really good point on last night's show. Although I am not at all religious, I am very for the right and freedom to believe in whatever you want to believe. However, the very first thing I thought when this was proposed was "Those Jihadists will be laughing their asses off at how stupid the infidels are to put an Islamic Community Center near Ground Zero." But to paraphrase Jon Stewart; "Who gives a shit what those assholes think?"
  19. Thanks for responding. I was only curious about that Fatman Scoop because some of the shit that guy says is so funny. I do a fair bit of party DJing and I wouldn't have minded pulling some samples from it. Thanks anyways though.
  20. I was thinking the exact same thing when I read that. I wonder how many copies of that double LP he's bought looking for a different color.
  21. Awesome. I never liked (and for a while, actively hated) Bright Eyes, but I really liked this album. My friend and ex-roommate had a copy on vinyl and I tried to "accidentally" mix it in with my records when we moved out. I'll be getting one of these for sure.
  22. hahaha what? anyway, at different times i would google different records by different artists and it seemed like this board would come up pretty often. think the last thing i looked for that made me sign up was the minus the bear planet of ice record http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49467
