  1. damn i think i need to get the super package...40 bucks...damn ordered...sweet
  2. not saying cause i have one, the only ones that should come close to decent money are the clear / blue ones. same applies for all first round victory vinyl. personally, i can't stand to see that generic victory records center label. it might as well read "cashin' in."
  3. theres 2 true first presses (as with most victory vinyl) that has real labels. i have a sky blue one...i forget the other color. the random colors (purple, orange, etc) are a bit more common. 46 bucks for what is technically somewhere around a 5th press is steep. any victory vinyl with the "victory records" center labels is not an original press.
  4. I see Beck every now and then early in the morning getting coffee...next time I see him I'll try and be awake enough to ask about a new Glassjaw album.
  5. I'm curious what labels Thursday is considering signing to. My guesses are Vagrant (esp. since Thrice is on there now), Fueled by Ramen / Decadaynce, or Epitaph.
  6. What first sparked in your interest in the vinyl format as opposed to CD or any other format? - Getting into punk rock and hardcore, it was often the only format a band used, so I got into vinyl at first as a means to hear a band's music. How long have you been collecting for? - I never really viewed it as "collecting" though there are certain releases I still want. I've been purchasing vinyl for about 10 years, and the last year I have gotten back into it a lot more than I was the few years before it (I was poor). How many records do you own? - Full lengths - 120 - 7" 's - 165 What is the most you have paid for a record? - I don't think I have ever paid more than "standard" price for a record. I buy them for the music. If they are collectible and I get in on a pre-sale, it's a bonus. I have a few "valuable" records that I bought upon release because I simply liked the band. What is your favorite thing about the format? - The fact that it is an alternative to CD's, sound better, and provides me with a tangible product for the music I have on my computer. Do you think that the resurgence in the popularity will help with the music industry’s problems with illegal downloading? - If labels continue to offer free downloads along with vinyl, then yes. Fans like myself cannot simply have the music - they need the product, the "thing" to hold in your hands and check out. The music is the mos important part of the presentation, but not the only part. Collecting MP3's does not allow you to show it to people, too. How do you feel about limited vinyl? Some might say that it is a really cool thing for collectors that like the feeling of owning something not many others have, but others might argue that it’s unfair to some listeners because richer people who only want to sell it on eBay down the road buy many of the copies up. Which of these do you think is more accurate? - I like limited vinyl that I get for a reasonable price. I have not and will not pay more for a release because it is limited. Some labels and bands seem to make their living on limited releases and variations. It does nothing for me. Kev
  7. PTW looks good, can't wait to get mine in the mail. I will get my Flogging Molly LP as well since I ordered both at the same time. Sweet. That middle Tusk album looks amazing, definitely a design to keep in mind for future releases (LaGracia perhaps???)
  8. thank for this post, ordered. silly me read this thread twice last night and was thinking it was for the 2x 7" on red. oops.
  9. i have the bootleg lp, any pressing info on this? also recently found out the 12 hits session was recorded down the block from me in what looks to be nothing more than a 2nd floor apartment.
  10. the dvd does not avoid the topic of their old style. their friends say that the sound sucked and they have clips to prove they were on to something. btw, best documentary dvd ever made.
  11. thanks for the post. i've been meaning to order that static radio nj 7" for a while now. this got it done.
  12. wonder how / if they will differentiate the "maybe ill catch fire" presses.
  13. i have an original press of "full collapse" on blue marble / 500. was clear also a first run or is that a later pressing? victory LOVES represses. i can't stand to see the generic victory label on their represses. makes all of them lack character
  14. no change of the belt. consistently too fast, again, just by a tad. doesn't change pitch as if the record is warped/ don't think it's done it as long as i've owned it, but i've gotten to the point where i listen to the same music on mp3 and vinyl and here the slight difference.
  15. nah, doesn't make sense. i don't have a red light. i feel very technologically dumb right now. i'm generally good with stuff like this.
  16. belt...it's a sony from about 7 years ago...PS-LX-150H if that means anything to anyone.
  17. Any quick-type solutions? I need to get a whole new system one of these months / years, but for now I like my turntable but I can tell it's half a hair too fast. It doesn't make the album unlistenable, not even close, but I am just able to tell. Any ideas are appreciated. Kev
  18. i think i might have ordered a second one accidentally from no idea...if i did, anyone up for trading for a copy of upstairs / downstairs?
  19. got mine today. forgot i ordered this. forgot it was on color. this is a sign of addiction.
  20. I think the "problem" of people flipping things on ebay will never go away. If there's profit to be had, someone will be bound t make it. How many times have I and many people reading this been tempted to buy multiple copies of a record because you know it will demand a higher price to the ebay crowd? How many times do I look at some records I won and wonder why I don't sell them since I could easily get over 100 bucks for some of them? I look at ebay as a potential gateway to people finding out about a site like vinyl collective or other places to get records. Think back to when you got in to punk or whatever genre of music you like - you had to start someplace. Ebay is an easy place to search for titles you want. The prices, however, we all see as being absurd at times. Records can mean different things to different people. Some people are all about listening to them. Others collect them like a lot of us used to collect baseball cards. Make a profit sometimes to go and buy more. If ebay bothers you, just ignore it and do your own thing.
  21. also agree. if the band wasn't called "the misfits" i think a lot more purists would have given it a chance. i am not saying it's better than the glenn era, but on it's own there's some good music on those discs.
  22. the other question i have is why is the non-deluxe version the more limited? should it be 10,000 as opposed to 1,000?
  23. i'm a little confused on the versions / # of copies...anyone care to clarify?
  24. thanks for the info. if clicking the link doesnt work, google the record label and click the link.
  25. very awesome. even cooler to see a fan of the stereo. seriously the most underrated rock band of the past 10 years next to farside. every album the stereo did is awesome. they also did a split 7" with ultimate fakebook.
