just back on the "upgrades to my bike" stuff, I just got a pair of NJS Chain Tensioners in the mail today to fix up some rear wheel alignment issues i've been having. While they aren't super necessary for all track bikes, they make adjusting your rear wheel so damn easy, I'd recommend them to anyone. I picked them up from Track Supermarket. I just installed them on my Bianchi Pista this afternoon and can't believe how much easier it made adjusting the rear wheel. feel like a chump for not having them earlier.

upgrade wise... does the bike you purchased come with a toe cage for the pedals? if not, that's a good start - eventually you might want to ditch the current pedals and go clipless - its not for everyone, but its a pretty smart progression. other upgrades will be noticeable over time.... changing the tooth size of the crank and free / fixed cog will help you out if you are finding it too much of a pain getting up hills with the current set-up you have. end of the day you have a pretty bare-bones set up with one of those bikes - not much you do is going to "improve" the ride. it is what it is. just ride heaps - all the time. bikes rule.

no need to get aerospokes. massive waste of money and basically asking for your bike to get stolen. as most people will say - make sure you get the bike adjusted correctly for your height (set the saddle height correctly / adjust the height of the handlebars) make sure everything is oiled up nicely and make sure you put some brakes on the thing - at least a front brake.

knee hurts in a different way than normal tattoos... but i mean its all relative and different for each person.... but for me, because i guess the skin is a lot thinner there and you have to have your knee bent, it just felt like the skin was being sliced open instead of grazed.... more like a scalpel.... fun times.... worst places for me so far have been - feet, shins, knee, outside of elbow and the ditch of the elbow... in no particular order...

ah come on its not all that bad - it makes ruining your life so much easier!
