  1. A couple of weeks ago, I bid on a two records (Danzig, Danzig II) that one seller was listing. I really wanted them so I overbid ($82,$110) hoping to get them. But I was out sniped. Okay. Good for that bidder, moving on. But then, today, I see the same seller listing them on Discogs for more than the top bid (that beat my bid). I message him and ask if they are the same. He responds and says they are, that the bidder gave him the run around, so he's relisting them on eBay and Discogs. The Discogs sale allows for "make an offer", so I make one slightly lower than my top bid.

He messages me and asks for my email, so I give him a junk account i use. He messages me and tells me that he needs $200 (My offer was $180)for the pair and I should just Paypal him the money as a gift! W! T! F! No way. I mail him back and say I would never give "a gift" when buying something on the internet and (here's where the gears start turning in my head) he's basing his prices off of a person who didn't pay for their bid. If that person hadn't bid and NOT PAID, I would have won the pair for LESS than $140! Getting suspicious, I check the auctions. All four of the "rare record" auctions that this guy listed were won by the bidder who won my auctions, and ALL are relisted at higher prices!!!! I checked the sellers feedback for a negative review from this "buyer" and didn't see anything.

He messages me saying he knows the value of the records, and will accept $195. take it or leave it. Needless to say I left it. I can think of a few scenarios where the guy could have been screwed buy a lame buyer, but after all the sketchy behavior, I decided I'd let eBay figure it out. Seems to me, the value of an item is what people are willing to pay for it. The search continues...

  2. So the Killers store says:

"The Battle Born Limited Edition Red Vinyl includes an 11 song single disc in a gatefold jacket with custom sleeve and a 24 x 36" poster."

They probably mean custom inner sleeve. Like when an LP is advertised as having a "printed inner sleeve." Interpunk is showing on their listing "double 180g vinyl" which i would guess is wrong considering what the official site says. Considering the initial Amazon price and the different prices around the web, it would seem that there was some misinformation. At least one big online vendor doesn't evenhave it up for preorder yet.

  3. I wonder why these are so ridiculously priced.

Plain and simple: Because they can. Or they think they can. Vinyl is hot right now. Press an exclusive color, say it's limited and make people who want the vinyl pay a lot for it. Californication, Van Halen: $45! Why not? you want the vinyl, pay up! Remember when CDs MSRP was around $20 each? Ugh.

  4. I'll believe this thing when I see it. Hearing it is secondary at this point. As a mass produced item at $150, I just don't think it's possible for it to sound even as good as a Debut III. I could be wrong and I'll gladly say it.

The reason they're calling this an "audiophile turntable" is because the motor away from the plinth, the plinth a solid piece of material, and that you can replace the cartridge. I would have preferred to see it have a clamp, but whatever. Had this existed ten years ago when I bought my VPI Scout, I probably could have saved $1700.

Hopefully they'll make an upgraded model for say, $250, and I can trade some sucker for my Classic.

  5. i\'m looking for a good inner sleeve. i perfer the standard paper inner sleeve with cute out label hole but most them that come with the vinyl record are a big loose. does anyone know where i can buy white paper inner sleeves with label cut out that measure 12 1/16 by 12 1/16? or something close to that...thanks in advance

Paper sleeves can scuff your records. Poly sleeves for large collections can really add up $-wise, but they are worth it if you care about your records.
  6. Im checking with my Universal rep to see if he has any info on this. I hope this is a US release. Most of the other Back to Black LPs Ive brought in for HT have retailed around $20-$25

Thanks for any info, Travis. The last import pressing of this was lackluster and had the same price point. Amazon is also listing Mechanical Animals from Universal UK as well. Any info on that or a US press would be welcome.
