What preamp did you get that made the total with a debut come to $600? Why the Debut and not the Carbon?
-
Does this come with a download?
No

The vinyl is opaque red. And the LPs are 45rpm. Very nice package. Still too early to tell on the mastering or SQ.

I jumped on the amazon preorder when it was $18. Anyone who wants this should order from interpunk. As of yesterday, it was still $16.25 or whatever.Amoeba Hollywood has the 180 gram red deluxe in stock for 32.98. lol fuck that
-
Good luck. It was available until six or so months ago when stock ran out at online retailers. Since then the price has climbed a lot.

My Amazon order came today. It is the double red vinyl with 20 page book. I'm guessing they are all the same. For a band as big as the killers, I would guess it is a "limited edition" run of 10,000 or something like that.

Amazon delivery is delayed. Strange course for this thing with all the different info and prices. Reviews have been mixed. I guess I'll find out when I get my LP.

Euro versions are 2xLP & include the bonus tracks, along with a cd copy
Bah. Live tracks and a cover.

Who doesn't understand the concept of built-in shelving???

It always amazes me when people claim to be blindsided on VC. I hang out here to get new release info and discuss some music, but out of all the vinyl/turntable related forums on the internet, this is the LAST one I would post any hardware or technical questions. No offense to Bearchuck or ajxd who seem to have a genuine interest in helping the VC population, but there are far superior options, two of which the guy mentions himself.
And saying you "don't need a pre-amp because you've never needed one before" is NOT the same as "I don't need a pre amp because my receiver has one built in." Just in the last couple of weeks we've had a couple threads where people asked why their turntable sounds so bad with their receiver? Only to find out that they don't have a phono pre.

Amazon is listing this as /2000 lava orange swirl.

Can you even replace the cartridge on your numark?

If $140 is too much (we all have different incomes and priorities), I would familiarize your self with some quality brands and check craigslist everyday. The second hand speaker market is super soft and most speakers sell for under half their retail value used. Thanks for all the replies guys I really do appreciate it. Once I get a better job and can start affording to buy new speakers and stuff, I will work on getting into the audiophile world.
I sold some great JBL tower speakers a couple of years ago. The were huge, an ugly birch color, and had the cones pushed in. I bought them 10 years prior for $100 each open box from BestBuy as is (cones pushed in, but they sounded fine). I listed them on craigslist for $100 for the pair. Didn't get a call for 2 weeks. Lowered them to $50 for the pair and got a call. The guys comes to check them out. A you teenager w/ his mom. I demo the speakers for them, he is just getting into music, and is really impressed by their size and sound. I start to unhook them for him and he and is mom are talking in hushed tones. He offers me $40. Happy to help a budding music fan, I accept. He looks at his Mom, stunned, like "that was easy". Point is, there are deals out there.

So this book, Is it coming with all copies of the vinyl? The price would seem to indicate yes. Limited red vinyl is tempting as limited killers vinyl can get pricey.
Hmmmm. Now that I think about it, It doesn't say exclusive red vinyl. Maybe all copies are red?
-
Yeah, so amazon says there's is double LP, and has been selling for 35 for a while now. I preordered when it was 18. Maybe interpunk is getting this with the same deal they get all the rise above stuff for so cheap. Ha.

So to help you not feel overwhelmed, the difference between headphones and speakers is, well, almost incomparable. To better replicate what you are getting from your headphones, I too, would recommend upgrading your speakers. Your speakers in your HTIB are probably really relying on your sub for bass and therefore are really missing the oomph and body that you get from your headphones.
Check out Polk Audio on Newegg. They always have sales and the speakers are great. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290202 these are only $140 and they will really impress you. Big upgrade for both your music and movies.
I recently directed an non-music lover to buy a new bottom end Yamaha receiver and a pair of polk Monitor 30s. He was blown away and very impressed. This guy wouldn't have said it if he didn't mean it. He just wanted his music to sound better, and he was out growing his old system.
Don't be afraid to build a system step by step. This is a great way to experience how things change with just one new component.

NIce collection, how many of those old albums are G.K.s? I know the red Hemishperes is not.

While true, it is a low end table, It's a fine place to start. The Shure cart is a good step up (I wouldn't worry about the counterweight as I've had the same issues with that cart on various tables). It's also true that you ARE missing a lot, but to help us understand what you may be looking for when you say you are missing something, it would be very helpful to go into more detail about what it might be that you feel you are missing.

I love Autumn. I think Summer In Abbadon is their worst. Not bad, of course, but whenever I play it, it flys right by with out grabbing me like Autum or Blue Screan Life does.I really hope this is better than Autumn of the Seraphs.
I'm going to have to revisit the IR A & B 7"s as they weren't memorable at all to me.

What do you mean "wear out slower"? The term audiophile is used as marketing because they think audiophiles like 180gm vinyl. That's true but thicker vinyl will wear out slower, hence the "audiophile" tag.
-
People, 180gm vinyl has NOTHING to do with sound quality. Vinyl weight has NO impact on the sound. 0. NONE. It is purely used to make a thicker, more sturdy record. A thicker record can resist warping better, and that is the ONLY benefit.
I prefer 180g because I like the substance, the weight, the physical product, but it offers no sonic benefit.

Licensing old albums isn't neccesarily the cash cow you think it is. It depends on a lot of things including the rights holders and contollers, labels, and other assets like artwork and photography. Remastering, and touch ups to old art. Everyone has to get their cut. Sometimes it works out relatively cheaply, sometimes it doesn't.Why does this cost so much?
Denon DP-300F yay or nay? sorry for all the threads.
