  1. I'm surprised they are taking this long to just put some additional info out and not leave people hanging- especially those that have already paid but got bumped to the second pressing.
  2. regardless of web orders or RSD buys, the label or manufacturer should cover the return shipping, doesn't matter some paid $35 or more shipping, others paid more for the set on RSD. Defective merch is defective merch
  3. As beautiful as the set is, the taped-on box top was a poor decision. Even if you don't open/play it much, tearing it with normal wear, in a few yrs the adhesive will dry out and crack/split when opened. I wonder if there's anywhere to order blank slip-case boxes?
  4. Congrats to anyone receiving an auto'd test press! for$35 shipping they should have been packed to survive a war zone like Sound stage direct does it. Hopefully you will get replacements and then have extras to give to friends
  5. Mine also. But my Comfort Eagle is so beautiful, it looks like Hollywood pool water on a hot day. (they used it in the email also)
  6. I feel for ya.. I'd be checking it every 5 mins and would drive nutzo! Patience is not something my OCD understands.
  7. Nahh.. far as I can remember the band never said RSD was the only chance to get it, didn't advise people to buy from ebay, never even said what the set was limited to- but the website DID say 'coming soon' on their web page even after RSD. Unless I'm forgetting something, there was no false advertising.
  8. I still would have lined up just to avoid the chance of being poorly packed for shipping and split spines due to repeated drop-kicks by unhappy USPS workers.
  9. Cake never said what the box was limited to. A blog first announced it would be 900 copies for RSD, and the official RSD list confirmed there were 900 under the tab 'How Many Are There?'. That intentionally does not specify a production number because in years past people have been upset when a production run is given and then the label makes more available. Now 'how many are there' means how many available ON RSD. It's all semantics. And since there is no limited info given on the package, no stickers and no # of # stamped or any implied promise of rarity, anyone upset about being 'mislead' or feeling taken advantage of, only has themselves to blame for reading into things or believing wrong information from a source other than the band.
  10. here as well. I only camped for under 4 hrs tho. I'm glad more people were able to get it today, I hope they do a second press for people. I was tempted to try for another today to save for a Christmas present, but I don't personally know a single other Cake fan. Imagine being a fan having missed out, and opening it on Christmas day?!! I doubt I'd be able to even wait that long.. we'd be hanging out eating pizza or something and I'd be like 'Oh, want some left over Cake?' and POW! what a surprise!
  11. Maybe they're allowing this to ease the rush from the email list tomorrow.
  12. it was stated in a facebook reply to someone bitching about having waited for hours and paid what they did for it when they could have stayed home and paid 99 bucks. Apparently they could learn something about shipping more afordably from places like soundstagedirect who ships expensive box sets for free
  13. I agree that in time the box lid will likely seperate from use. I would have preferred a slip case or even traditional box, but I agree this thing is so nicely done and worth much more than the $139 price I paid.
  14. HUGE respect for Cake responding to fans and making more available. No reason everybody that wants a set shouldn't be able to get one at fair price. I'd love to see them take pre-orders and make enough to fill them.
  15. I was12th in line about 4:45am at Spoonful here in Columbus OH, was lucky to score #7 of their 8 sets (guy behind me got #8), $139. HUGE turnout. I wish they would have made a few thousand to go around.
  16. I know of someone getting both at Target for $10 each very recently in the Los Angeles area. Possibly today, he didn't clarify.
  17. some probs with the black vinyl version being wrinkled/wavy. I took a short video of mine before returning it and finding the other copy they had to be the same (he can return for credit). a few others reported on hoffman forum. figured I'd try for the color version to avoid getting another, but it's backordered now. I don't want to order, get the download, then the backorder is never made and I get a partial refund. posted video on their facebook
  18. They sound great and both sound the same to me but I'm far from an audiophile. (Playing on an AT 240 turntable with Ortofon Pro-S thru Pioneer A-20 / 4 Pioneer speakers (sp FS51 towers & BS41 bookshelfs))
  19. amazon Germany box (top) and gohastings box. some slight differences: brighter labels on the UK pressing, a little more dead wax space at center. different matrix writing. sony logo on the back of everything, of course different address info. cloudy song list sticker on back of UK, clear on US. slightly rounded corners on US hype stickers, sharp corners on UK. everything else about the box and covers is the same comparing my original US Pt. 1 with the UK Pt. 1, the US discs feel a little heavier/thicker.
  20. received 20/20 from them today, shipped in a re-used multi-LP mailer, perfect! would love to catch more deals here..
  21. are the Target bonus 7"s in plain or picture sleeves? I assume they are black vinyl..
  22. Thanks Nardes, I also ordered using your Hastings link. My Germany amazon order hasn't shipped yet (I ordered Friday night). If they both arrive one will make a nice Christmas gift to a friend.
