I hate that CHIRP Fair is always the week before RSD. I'd probably drop a lot more money if it was a different time of year. I might stop by, but not sure yet...

this thread has been awesome for so many different reasons.

so the download card inside the album says "use this code to redeem your digital copy @ sumerianrecords.com", but I can't find a link anywhere on the site... anyone know where to get it?

Has anyone heard of this guy?
Here's a short description:
Arrington de Dionyso makes trans-utopian world music for a world that exists in fever dreams and hallucinations. De Dionyso’s most recent project, Malaikat dan Singa, is a trance-punk outfit featuring bass clarinet, guitars, multiple drummers and his trademark wild vocals (multi-spectral harmonic throatsinging combined with grunts, yelps, and barks) often sung in Indonesian.

I heard one of their albums at a record store yesterday. I've been in awe ever since. For better or worse, it's one of the most interesting things I've heard in a long time, and I can't decide if I love it or hate it, if I want to buy the albums, or if they'll get old really fast.
Thoughts and opinions?

I think I picked up the new reissue of SOFAD yesterday from my local store. They had all 4 listed in the links in the first post, and the timing would lead me to believe it's them, since they come out on Tuesday... but I can't tell for sure. It's on Rhino, 180g, but doesn't have any indication it's a 2014 reissue. The label and sleeve both have the 2007 date. If someone else gets these, please post and let me know what yours say.

+1 for cuts on mine as well. 2 cuts on the front cover, one made it through to the first LP. Luckily it's in the runout, so I doubt it will affect play. Haven't spun it yet though, so I can't confirm.

I'm looking to upgrade my cart from the standard Music Hall Tracker. I'd like to stay in the $100-$150 range, and I'm mainly between either the Ortofon 2m Red or Grado red/blue. Also, I've read mixed opinions on whether or not a heavier counterweight would be needed with these. Can anyone that has a 2.2 chime in with your opinions / suggestions and what worked for you?

Is there any reason you wouldn't jump onto one of the existing ones?

PO: THE MARS VOLTA De-loused In The Comatorium 2LP
in Vinyl Collective Message Board

aren't the Mars Volta albums notoriously bad-sounding on vinyl? I thought I've read that somewhere before. Can someone confirm that this album sounds good and is worth $45?
