To be fair when I think of no idea I’m thinking hot water, against me!, small brown bike, swarm, stuff like that.
Lol, OWTH is absolutely in the same wheelhouse as AM! and HWM. If you haven't heard them, give them a try. They're one of my favorite bands.
QuoteI’m not familiar with the bands you listed. If they got screwed that’s unfortunate.
Double lol, those weren't bands, they were other labels. And yeah, they all got screwed, or at least had stories of other labels getting screwed.

That's really disheartening, I always loved No Idea and own a pretty good chunk of their catalog. I guess this explains why they shut down their distro.

So stoked for this!

Got this last night, spun it a couple of times, and it's an average Iron Chic record... which means it's one of the best records of the year!
The cover on this thing is rad as hell too. The gold emboss details on the horns and teeth add a layer of creepiness to the artwork for sure.

Oof, I'm not digging any of the songs I've heard from this at all.
This is the kind of album that if it'd come out right after 40 Hour Train, mid-20s me probably would have disliked it at first, but I would have listened to it enough for it to grow on me. But now that I'm pushing 37, I'd rather just listen to music I actually like than wait for an album to prove itself as a grower to me.

I think it's more so that the popularity of 7 inches went down as opposed to the popularity of the band.
Interesting, I didn't realize that had happened. I still buy plenty of 7 inches.

Missed out on the pink/clear, but snagged a purple.
Have these guys dwindled in popularity or something? I only count 1,000 copies of this pressed (for now anyway) when BBC Vol. 2 had like over 5,000 pressed. In the past, there wouldn't have been any limited copies left a few hours after it went up.

Once the community aspect dwindled, DF was like tracking your collection in a Word document. It barely qualified as a database, and it never got better. I switched to tracking my collection myself in a spreadsheet, and I've never looked back. At the time I made that choice, Discogs wasn't good for tracking specific variants, and I didn't have the time or drive to create my own submissions. Discogs has gotten a hell of a lot better since then, but I simply don't have the time to transfer over my whole collection at this point.
Know who has two thumbs and won't miss DF?

They posted a new track on Monday that was very well timed considering the shit that happened this past weekend...
Ok, I can't get the video to embed correctly, but it's on their Facebook.

Playing a ~150 capacity room in Rochester. This news made my day
Yeah, normally I wouldn't have to worry about buying tickets ahead of time for a TA show, but they're playing a much smaller venue than in the past.

And a repress of S/T.

I hope I'm wrong, but this sounds more like the end of No Idea altogether, not just a hiatus.

The goo gone didnt ruin it?
I didn't try playing it and I ended up giving it away to someone. I remember that the Goo Gone didn't really get the adhesive off though.

Did anyone ever figure out a way to get the glue off their record?
I only really gave it a shot once I'd gotten my replacement copy. I tried both hot soapy water and Goo Gone, and neither of them made much difference. I think to really get it off, you'd have to scrub the record hard enough that it'd wind up being unplayable anyway.

Nice, snagged a white, even though I'm probably gonna try to hit up their show on Saturday.

Snagged a clear!

Looks like Teenage Bottlerocket's new lp on Fat is going to be a covers album.

I'm sure it'll be great but I was really looking forward to new original stuff.
I saw on their Facebook announcement that they've been sitting on this album for a while now. It's probably just a gap release while they work on some new stuff. Did they ever get a new drummer though?

That video sure looks a helluva lot like an old Tool video. Cool song, too.
My thoughts exactly.

Snagged a MFATGGs, missed out on Direct Hit! but it's all good because I have the original pressing. That new cover art is rad as hell though.

Hey, to each their own. I don't think they're bad by any means, they just never really clicked for me. This is a band that hasn't made the same album twice, so there's something for everyone, imo.

Just sounds like they borrowed a little too much from the McCartney/Lennon writing style and churned out a 60's Pop/Rock album. Too many chord progressions and not enough riffs. Church Mouth and Censored Colors had a good mix of riffs and typical chord progressions but that shit popped and sounded original and slayed. ITMITC is better than most shit out there but not up to my standard for P.TM.
I think they really found their groove with SS, and while American Ghetto was still good, ITMITC is easily my favorite record by them. Church Mouth and Censored Colors are totally forgettable to me, and Evil Friends...well, let's just say that if that was the first album they'd put out, I wouldn't have bothered with their second album.
All that aside, it's crazy to me that these guys put out almost an album per year for until now. It's been almost 4 years since Evil Friends. Does anyone know why? Waiting out their contract with Atlantic? Did someone get married and have kids? Substance abuse issues? Something else?

Digging the second single a lot more than the first, but I'll probably just download this.

Google Docs vs. Discogs for record collection list
in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Posted
I use both, but Docs is my 100% up-to-date collection. I'm entering more and more stuff into Discogs as I get it, but it's highly unlikely that I'll ever go back through and enter my entire collection there.
