  1. Just because he speaks frankly about topics he knows a ton about doesn't make him negative.
  2. I've ordered from them a few times with zero issues. I wonder if it has more to do with your mail handlers, obviously not the wrong order but the rest sound like they've been tossed around by the sorters and delivery guys in your area. I guess that doesn't entirely explain why it doesn't happen with orders from other places though.
  3. Totally, like I said I've been blown away by the Paradigms. I can't recommend them enough... plus they're Canadian!
  4. Cook and Sleep are separted by a wall, My bathroom is probably 50 sq.ft. ...if you include the tub.
  5. I think this is what everyone has been trying to say just delivered much better. I have the powered speakers because I live in a 300 sq.ft. apartment and don't have much extra room to spare. Once I move and this stuff starts to crap out I will most certainly upgrade to a more traditional setup but I have a feeling I will always find a use for the Paradigms. Trust me, they'll surprise you.
  6. I disagree. I have a pair of Paradigm Shift A2s that sound fantastic and I would argue on par or better than most passive bookshelf setups I've heard in person.
  7. Has anyone from Canada said Ketchup chips yet? I've heard they don't have those in parts of the US...
  8. Super jealous. I'd love to experience on of these shows.
  9. Just watched this rad documentary about backyard shows in East LA, figured some of you would be interested. (Fuck yeah, Vimeo embeds so much easier than youtube!) They come from all over the greater Los Angeles area-- Boyle Heights, El Sereno, Lynwood, Santa Clarita, etc.--from diverse family backgrounds, seeking out the underground pop-up punk shows that make up the "East Los" backyard scene. Straight-up punk, metal, horror ska, oi and psychobilly are all in the mix and, while the music is diverse, its aggressive approach is a constant. There's always a mosh pit. TV, radio, gossip columns and Internet memes don't support this scene: It must be sought out, specifically, and for a variety of reasons. This is a simple D.I.Y., research- required, no bullshit, anti-establishment, fuck the system, off the wall approach and exactly what kids attending these shows need to feel like they belong. Each character is his or her own person, an individual with their own personal experiences, history, likes and dislikes. The one thing that brings them all together, that creates a sense of family, is the East L.A. backyard scene. Full Episodes: http://livingoffthewall.vans.com/east-los/#1
  10. I think the record looks so good, really like how understated the white is. PS... sell me your destroyer jacket already!
  11. Anyone have actual pressing info for the pink? Also, pink is still available here: http://paperplastick.limitedrun.com/products/17527-anthony-raneri-new-cathedrals
  12. Man, thanks for the heads up. I think I'm going to send them a quick email and see what the deal is
  13. Whoa, that's super shitty. Did they mention whether or not they're fulfilling the orders that went through?
  14. Weird, maybe it's a Canada thing? I don't think I've ever heard a Brand New song on the radio, maybe the college station?
  15. I'd argue that they're not as big as you might think. I'd argue their popularity fades as you move away from the east coast, aside from California. When they came here (Calgary) a couple years ago I was able to purchase tickets a week after they went on sale, no problems. I think the show eventually sold out but not with the pandemonium that surrounds there shows now. Like others have said they get a ton of hype online. And on sites like tumblr and even here on VC the exclusivity of tours and releases helps drive internet boners into believing they need everything this band has ever made and see them as many times as possible and this will make them king of the internet boners. I'd be willing to bet in 5 years when there's a new band to drool over you'll get flamed for mentioning Brand New on certain sites. There's no doubt in my mind that they have mega fans that pay anything to follow them around the country but like you said a band doesn't have to be good to have fans like that. This band is like a cult film. You get a mix of people who truly admire and appreciate this band and the music they produce and you get the others who cling to whatever is considered cool.
