  1. MODERN LOVE label releases... /////////////// The Stranger - Watching Dead Empires In Decay It's been five long years since Leyland Kirby has released anything as the Stranger, but the wait has been worth it, as his new album for the always-stellar Modern Love imprint pulls no punches. Watching Dead Empires in Decay casts Kirby's trademark clouds of unsettled spectral ambience anchored by a more kinetic pulse; nearly every track here is pushed forward by layers of slowly creeping, pulsating tribal pulsations crafted on what seems like funeral drums and abandoned scrap metal. In fact, most of the sonic source material on the album sounds crafted from percussion of all sorts; as such, it's perhaps one of the most simultaneously visceral and eerie records of Kirby's career, and provides a lovely counterpoint to the more romantic explorations of melancholy undertaken via his Caretaker albums. There's little to no remorse to be found on Watching Dead Empires; instead, the listener is left fending for themselves in a desolate, treacherous landscape that seems as though it has taken on a life (or afterlife) of its own, devouring any and all who dare to enter it. Whether you dig the haunted spectrality of Kirby's past works, or are more of an industrial/cold wave fiend who needs some fresh klang and boom in their diet, this album fully delivers, and is arguably one of Kirby's best, under any of his many pseudonyms.
  2. I've really enjoyed following the Mondo/Death Waltz thread, and wanted to create a similar thread to discuss the past sets and upcoming releases from the excellent Numero Group. So let me kick it off with a couple of questions: - Do you have a favorite Numero release or series? - Is anyone trying to collect the whole collection? (Much like some Criterion fans do with movies?) - Are there any releases you took a chance on and ended up not liking? - What are you looking forward to?

  5. We are an independent record label that strives to release new, fresh and entertaining music. Our goal is to expose talented artists to new fans and help music enthusiasts find something they might not have known about. The name Flippin Records has a few meanings in today's music market... "This side is over, time to flip it!" "I bought this record to flip on ebay!" or "Check out this flippin awesome record!" We just want everyone to have fun with their purchase! Our releases will be limited and never pressed again, so when they are gone, they are gone... unless someone decides to flip a copy later on! We offer audio recording in or around Omaha, NE utilizing a fully portable studio. However, we offer analogue mixing/summing services to anyone that can provide multi tracks. We also offer logo and poster design as well as animation and video editing. 6. Came across this promo copy of CSN&Y - Celebration Copy and the label has the four Led Zeppelin signs on it. Can't find any information about it online, anyone ever come across this before? Probably just a misprint in the pressing plant but it's pretty cool so I thought I'd share.
  7. Hey everyone, my name is Josh and I just recently started up a record label with a couple of friends of mine. We're called Ozona Records and we're based out of San Antonio, Texas. We're starting kind of small (low budget) but we have big plans laid out and are hoping to get there soon. If anyone's labels would like us to distro stuff or anything, message me on here and we can talk! Anyways, here's the several links where you can find us! Facebook: www.facebook.com/ozonarecords Bandcamp: www.ozona.bandcamp.com Tumblr: www.ozonarecords.tumblr.com YouTube: www.youtube.com/user/ozonarecords If you checked it out, thanks a bunch! Feel free to download any of the music (everything we've released prior to actually becoming a label is free) and if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask! Josh

The label started as a blog to spread awareness of the Midwestern underground music scene, and felt the need to get more involved by releasing music from the bands we love and support.
