PO: Alex G - DSU (Orchid Tapes)

Recommended Posts

I understand selling records for alot, I mean I just sold that TS lathe for 250, but I wouldn't dare throw it down to you guys and act like I don't care about it. That's why I put my listing on Discogs and never advertised it on here.

christ, someone paid the $250? I was still holding out hope you'd sell it to me for cheap one day, haha.

i hate that people like sam ray's work enough to pay that much, jesus christ.

disclaimer: i love the rest of the guys in the band, brian and alec are buds of mine and john's a cool dude, but......

I wouldn't spend that much on any single record, but I really do love Sam's work, I don't know about whatever douchy things he's done but he's a talented dude.

Yeah, for real. Sam's music I's some of the most enjoyable from this generation to me. In my opinion there's no artist doing what he's doing the way he's doing while consistently achieving a sincere, intimate atmosphere. Even if many of his songs are odes to addiction and the way it influences you to be ugly towards the world, the fact he can convey that sentiment so well, as well as various other hefty sentiments, using simplicity and samples and noise and recited verse, all straight from the bedroom with worn hiss and feedback spikes that swell with emotion, dancing sporadic vague keys that dwindle into and out of existence as hauntingly as unwanted thoughts... I mean I've heard many times how "rude a dude" Sam is, but far more often I've heard with my own ears how talented he is with conveying sentimentality and personal adversity.

Probably one of my favourite releases this year. Have the cassette and I'm looking forward to the 12" later. Any ideas on a rough date?

Looking like we'll have things assembled by the end of Sept/beginning of Oct. I'll be better at updating things at http://slugsaltrex.blogspot.com and http://facebook.com/slugsaltrecords.

Also, their new songs sound great, and we're looking forward to an EP...

Savage. Had no idea about a new EP. Can't wait.
