matt
stole this from a user on another board. im going to try to do this once a month to offer some insights/reviews on the records i buy. this month its going to be quite the arduous process, im pretty overwhelmed with everything i got and my "to listen to" pile is getting backed up more and more each day. and for those curious in reading ill throw in a little game in this. if you can guess how much i spent on the following records ill send you a 7" for free. id love to get some feedback on any of this. im not trying to turn this into a pissing contest of "look how much i got." my goal is to try to throw in some links to some mp3s/samples/reviews of the records so i can hopefully promote some of the releases that may get overlooked on this board. 94 records this month. thank you work bonus/birthday/tax return. mind you a lot of these werent actually purchased in april, im not that crazy. 7" Danse Macabre/Am I Dead Yet - split Tristan Tzara - Da Ne Zaboravis - Black w/Red Splatter Bloodbath and Beyond - Jihadcore - Gray Mother of Mercy - No Eden Fake Problems - Viking Wizard Eyes Wizard Full of Lies - Silver Foxboro Hot Tubs - Mother Mary Drug Test - Needle in Your Neck - Yellow Let Down - Crossed Off - Clear/Blue Screened Cover Rhythm to the Madness - Soul Doubt Country Line Rd. - The Birth of Hank Malloy The Measure[sA]/Blotto - split Tiltwheel/Off With Their Heads - split Tiltwheel/Down in the Dumps - split v/a 4 Way Split Series #1 - Down in the Dumps/Potboiler/FellowProject/Red&Blue - Dead Broke Records - Blue #129/300 Election Day - Demo - Red Trap Them/Extreme Noise Terror - split - Clear Meltdown - Demolition - Black/White Swirl Jeff Buckley - Forget Her - Blue Heathen - s/t - Red v/a - What Has Two Thumbs and Loves Long Island Punk & Hardcore?! matt
ill start with this Helms Alee - s/t i actually wasn't completely sold on this when i ordered it. an impulse buy to go along with the deadsure record i wanted. the pre-order took some time but its one of the nicest packaged records ive had in a long time. the band has ex members of these arms are snakes but theyre hardly similar. in fact im having a hard time describing who they sound like so do this, go listen to borrowed wind on their myspace http://www.myspace.com/helmsaleemusic in fact all four songs from the 12" are up on their myspace. AlexH.
That's three times the size of my collection right there. Nice on the Cootees - is it the glow in the dark one?
jeffdantzer
Ill tell you right now, Mother of Mercy - No Eden fucking rules. Im friends with these dudes and this release is solid, be on the look out for some new tracks from them soon. LetxDown - Crossed Off Is awesome, once again I know these dudes and everything they have released is solid. LetxDown - Where in this alone, is over before you know it, fast pissed off straight edge hardcore at its best. Blacklisted - Heaver than heaven lonelier then god, could very well be my favorite release of 08 thus far.

Nice on the Cootees - is it the glow in the dark one? nope, its the black copy. dont let anyone tell you its the size that matters. quality>quantity always. granted i have a lot of stuff i consider filler that im still trying to weed out but ive been at this for a while now so its just added up after a while. markalark17
I'm gonna go with around $1100. That seems like a lot, though. Oh well.
matt
several of these are trades but the majority are purchases, however, you win so far since you're the only one who's guessed. venetian blinds - 200 clear/800 blue
brady
1100 seems a bit high. I'm going with 700.
matt
Empty Vision - The Rise I've always been a sucker for "melodic" hardcore. much like the majority of hardcore records they arent exactly reinventing the wheel but this is a fun record. dudes are from germany and remind me a lot of with honor. only a few distros in the states are carrying this so youd have to do some digging. http://www.myspace.com/emptyvision
j4m35
i've curbed my vinyl buying for a couple months...only have been picking up stuff that is for a really good deal. i'll say i spent around $125 on vinylz.

Guest genericinsight
Matt, nice purchases. How are you enjoying that Election Day 7"? I got mine in the mail a couple weeks back and I dig it quite a bit. Funny, I just saw one of their drummer's million other bands this past weekend, I should have said "Hey a dude I know in California owns your 7" now" and see what he said. Also, that's weird you got the Reds LP. My friend Randy played bass in that band and they weren't together very long at all.

matt
Day of the Dead - A New Healing Process I never thought id be buying a hardcore record from a band from portugal. i read reviews and kept seeing them compared to modern life is war and unbroken but i dont really see that comparison. something more along the lines of dead hearts with be more appropriate. vocals are a little too "throaty" for my liking, making it seem more like a from autumn to ashes record at times. http://www.myspace.com/dotd

Guest genericinsight
Also, might I ask where the Resonance LP and Kids Explode split were purchased? The Grand Color Crayon - they contacted me a while ago about doing PR stuff. I may or may not be working with them. Music isn't really my thing but they seem like nice enough dudes.
