jameshays
Not sure if this is the right forum but I'd like to add a small cassette player to my setup. A lot of the releases I want are just too expensive on vinyl but I still like the idea of analog audio. Since my turntable is taking up all the room I need something small that has rca outs and sounds decent. Was thinking one of the older Marantz style portable units but don't know how they sound as a playback machine. The rack mount stuff is just too big for my current setup. Any suggestions? circuit bored records
If you're worried about sound quality, you probably shouldn't be interested in listening to cassettes.
slinch
Yeah, if you want something less expensive, just buy CDs. They're cheap and will sound infinitely better than tapes. Also, if it makes you feel better, every CD player outputs an analog signal. If you really want a tape deck, good ones cost hundreds. Cheap ones all work the same, so just get the first one you like (and that actually works).
Tardcore
If I was in the market for a tape deck, I would get something like this. It's really cool looking and the fact that it doesn't work brings the price down considerably.
kannibal
If I was in the market for a tape deck, I would just kill myself. I'm in no way endorsing this for others. agaetisbyrjun

skadaddy
Good thread. Highly recommended. I've read it twice in a row and I still can't put it down.
