landmanmj
im sure there on many different opinions on this subject but as someone who used to collect vinyl and stopped but picked it up again recently, are there any collectors with tips on the best way to keep them looking good. any suggestions woud be apprecited
monk0nuggets
I've read a few articles that say to keep the records out side the jacket but inside its paper sleeve with everything inside another plastic sleeve. This is supposed to reduce ring wear on the jacket, but only time will tell I suppose.
landmanmj
if i recieve it outside i usually leave it outside but im more curious as what to keep them such as boxes, cabinets, shelves etc
xfedaykinx
i use plastic inner sleeves that fit inside the paper inners to help prevent scratching the vinyl every time i take it out to listen to it. i also keep the records inside the jackets. theyre made to protect the vinyl, and thats whats most important to me. also, clearly store them right-side up, not stacked on top of one another. this should go without saying. and dont pack them too tightly or you will most certainly get some ringwear, no matter whether you keep the records inside or outside the sleeves

landmanmj
storing them leaning on each other doesnt leave ringwear?
justindinealone
temporarily im using one of these from ikea (its not an expedit): http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/40101276 fits LPs perfectly width wise, they stick out about an inch of the top but makes it perfect to flip through them. jhulud
storing them leaning on each other doesnt leave ringwear? As long as they're not packed too tight. I don't have space for any type of walls unit so I'm all over the place with my "storage": (It's funny seeing that 3rd pic as the number of records on the floor have almost doubled since I originally posted this pic in the storage area thread)

jhulud
Yeah why do you have so many. Hoping it turns into Your Favorite Weapon? Long story involving a friend's sheer stupidity and my gaining from it. I'd wish it would start going for as much as YFW. I'd bank.
