Keeponkippin
Hey, So I've recently been getting into the Southern Gothic/Indie Folk type stuff, and I was wondering if anybody had any good suggestions on the genre? I like how this song builds an ambient feel/a sense of atmosphere, but I'm looking for something a little more hard hitting. https://soundcloud.com/schatziboffin/creek-dont-rise Any good recommendations? ronniegwilliams
Bands that I feel really made the most of the genre: 16 Horsepower and Briertone
Neanderthal
Yeah listen to David Eugene Edwards or read Cormac McCarthy.
Keeponkippin
Haha, awesome, thank you! I like David Eugene a lot and am currently checking out O'Death. And ha, not quite. Just kind of got off of a True Detective bender and between the link I first posted, the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack, and one Delta Rate song (Bottom of the River), it's just kinda tough to find stuff like it. Alabama Shakes are cool, but they've got a decidedly more rock focus, which is cool, it's just not quite as atmospheric, y'know?
Keeponkippin
Also, ronniegwilliams, awesome suggestions as well! Thank you.
ronniegwilliams
Also, ronniegwilliams, awesome suggestions as well! Thank you. Not a problem. I also highly recommend pairing these songs with the workings of Cormac McCarthy. Blood Meridian will change your life.
