Seafinch
I'm starting to consider investing in cleaning up my power for my setup and was wondering what you all use. I'm on a bit of a budget - would love to make the biggest bang for my buck in the $200 range. Any ideas?
dethrock
Currently in my main setup I've got a Blue Circle PLC Thingee FX2. I eventually plan on having a breaker solely for my audio setup and run some better wire and get a decent recepticle. Not sure when that will actually happen though
circuit bored records
I would get a Panamax. MR4000. Boom
shamrocks
do you guys find there is a performance benefit to this upgrade, or is it primarily protective
ajxd
There are lot of arguments on this. I use Tripp Lite Isobar.
Tardcore
I use the Tripplite Isobar as well and have been thinking about stepping up to a line conditioner type system. Based on my (limited) understanding, the advantage of a line conditioner versus a power strip is undervoltage/brownout protection which may be a greater risk for some people than surges. For example, I have some friends in Louisianna who experience frequent brownouts and have beefy battery backup systems in place to protect their computers, etc while I have never had those problems myself. Any of these components "may" correct power issues specific to your home, but that's going to be dependant on that kind of problem you have going on (if any). trott3r
Always a difficult one this. Whether you benefit or not depends on where you live. In a city there will be few problems with the power but if you are near heavy industry the electricity will be "dirty" I have a UPS for my PC but i dont plug my hifi into it since it doesnt produce pure square? waves which electricity from the mains is. Fine for the PC brownouts but not so great on cleaning up the supply.
Seafinch
I added a Hubbell 5362 a couple days ago. Right now I have my turntable and a cheap power strip plugged directly into it. It made a massive difference for my turntable. I'm way surprised at how much lower my noise floor is. I have a Tripp Lite Isobar delivering tomorrow to replace the cheap strip. STÖNCÜLD
You need an inline ups not a back up ups. Inline conditions power by feeding power constantly from a battery, a backup only feeds from the battery when there is a power event.
