Cartoongraveyard
Hey guys, I have a Project Carbon and bought the Music-Hall Acrylic platter with an Amazon gift card for it. What tracking weight is ideal for this setup? I only ask as the platter sits a bit higher than the regular stock platter and figure there would need to be some compensating. Or maybe I am wrong! Enlighten me!
Tardcore
I think you mean VTA and that table doesn't have VTA adjustment. In any case, I don't think it will matter to you. aarondltd
kidamnesiac
Why would tracking weight need to be adjusted as a result of the platter being higher? The only thing to worry about here is VTA as Tardcore said.
Cartoongraveyard
Never mind, the more I thought about it, the more I understand why I don't need to worry about it. Thanks for the help

slinch
Actually guys, he's right. The tracking weight changes slightly when the tonearm isn't perfectly level. That's why pros will advise against cheaper digital scales, because those don't have thin enough measuring plates and your readings will be off since the tonearm isn't level when you use them. Either way, the difference isn't huge, but you can compensate by increasing tracking weight by 0.1 - 0.2 grams. Though the acrylic platter shouldn't require any adjusting, remember that you're using it without the mat, as far as I know the thickness is pretty much identical to the standard platter with the mat on it. kidamnesiac
Cartoongraveyard
Yeah that's what I wasn't sure of, I'll set it like I normally do and see if there are any issues. Thanks so much for the help
vinyl addict
To tell you anything about your tracking weight, we would first need to know what cartridge you have...
