mattramone
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/10/vinyl.records.ap/index.html It'd be interesting to see what the sales numbers would be if vinyl were at all tracked by SoundScan or independent labels/sellers reported how much they moved. derbsauce
I say vinyl will be in Wal-mart by Christmas. Prepare for the end!
rhythmgtr5
If best buy starts carrying vinyl, I'll be in trouble. The nearest record store is over 20 miles from my house so that keeps me in check. As where there are best buys everywhere you look around here
listentovinyl
best buy/wal mart will have the worst vinyl selection ever
keevhren
best buy/wal mart will have the worst vinyl selection ever in addition to them all having to be edited versions right? Walmart doesnt carry explicit cd's i thought.

Well anything with a Tipper Sticker or "offensive" Artwork (still have to pick up Tool-Undertow from them for the alternate cover)

gloamingtime
If they carry a bunch of crap you don't even care about, then what's the worry for? We'll still have record stores and the internet to get the things we really want, not Wal-mart/Best Buy. And things are "cool" for your own reasons, not the ones Wal-mart gives you... mattramone
If they make it to best buy, I expect it'll just be a bunch of Coly play picture disc singles and nothing really worth listening to.
cj
Wal Mart will pick this up, which proves ,everything cool will die eventually. just do what im going to do. buy a player piano and then start all over with buying "sound wheels"

bouncingsoles123
i saw a record player in a clothing advertisement at kohl's department store today. i can't say i'm surprised at all though I saw this today too and one where a girl was throwing 7"s ...it hurt to look at. Oh and Wal Mart will carry bands like Coldplay and Radiohead, so fuck all of you who listen to these boring ass bands. (that was a joke, I just don't understand those bands) Also anyone else see the wal mart metal commercials on fuse? hilarious.

kyle
At this point these "vinyl resurgence" articles are boring. They're all the same. It's cool to see it getting some attention, but they all seem to follow the same format. "Hey old people... remember how you used to listen to music? You know, those black plastic discs. Well, there are kids that are buying them again because they think they're cool. Some people even think they sound better. Sales are heading up, but they still won't touch CDs. blah blah blah"
