Fucked Up announce insane holiday charity 7-inch

In honor of the season, Fucked Up has recorded a special festive single.

The a-side features a brand new holiday themed song by Fucked Up. Clocking in at four minutes, this ripper is about the birth of our lord and savior: David Eliade and serves as a taste of what is to come on Fucked Up's forthcoming LP, "The Chemistry Of Common Life," that will see the light of day next year.

The b-side of the record boasts a very special Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa song which has Fucked Up collaborating with:

James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem)

Cole (Black Lips)

Davey Havok (AFI)

Kevin Peterson (What's Your Rupture?)

Faris Rotter (The Horrors)

Mike Fellows (Rites Of Spring)

Matt Sweeney (Chavez/ Zwan)

Dave One (Chromeo)

Jacob Thiele (The Faint)

Morag and Ursula

Jay Reatard

Dan Romano (Attack In Black)

Trevor Keith (Face To Face)

Jason Green (Panthers/ Orchid)

Jerry A. (Poison Idea)

Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation)

Scott Vogel (Terror)

and Nelly Furtado.

This is not a joke. All of these people (willingly) participated in the recording of this song. This probably the most bizarre collaboration that they have/ will ever do. The recording time for this record was generously donated by Chris Hegge of Audiolab Studios Toronto (402 Salem Avenue North. 416-516-5542).

The record comes gift wrapped in special Fucked Up wrapping paper, graciously donated by Simone (sometime member of Fucked Up) of Punchclock (http://punchclock.org/) and it will be limited (there is no way we are going to wrap too many of these).

All proceeds from the sale of this record will go directly to George Herman House: a transitional housing and life skills program that supports women who are living with mental health issues in Toronto (http://www.georgehermanhouse.ca/).

To celebrate the release of this record and everything wrong/ right about this time of year Fucked Up will be hosting a very special event at Sonic Boom Music (512 Bloor St. West) on December 15. With the help of the very talented Tim Oakley, Fucked Up will be playing a live set in Santa's Workshop and the ol' jolly fat elf himself will take over the vocal duties for Fucked Up at this event. There will be surprise guests and a chance to take your picture with Santa and best of all it is all for free (of course you can bring a donation for George Herman House)!!! All we are asking is that you please bring some non-perishable food items (and please don't bring in something stupid like cream corn or something that has been sitting in the cupboard for years) for the food bank (we will have a box for donations).

So come down with some food, take a photo with Santa, watch Fucked Up and buy a 7". It is all for a good cause.

For the people that can't make it down to the show: have no fear. The 7" will be available (while quantities last) for mail order. More info will be posted on the Fucked Up blog (www.lookingforgold.blogspot.com) or on the What's Your Rupture? site (http://www.whatsyourrupture.com/)

oh. i didnt know people just keep stuff to have and not play.

Collecting is an integral part for many members here and is probably just as important as listening for some.

Personally, I'd rather have something for listening purposes, but if I can get my hands on a duplicate copy of a potential future collectible I'll usually pick it up and tuck it away.
