casey
Just saw a new Irvine Welsh book was out. It's called Crime. I ordered it from Amazon, should get in a week. Anybody else like him? Currently I'm reading "The Night of the Gun" by David Carr. He's a reporter for the New York Times and it's a memoir (based on 60 interviews done with (ex-) friends and family, medical files, legal documents and journals, chronicling his "journey from crack-house regular to regular columnist for the New York Times." I just started it, but it's pretty haunting stuff.
cosmonaut
last I posted in this thread before tonight, I was reading On the Road and didn't finish that either. That was one of those books I wanted to read for such a long time and it just did nothing for me. Couldn't hold my interest at all. I go through periods where I can't seem to get into books, so maybe that's what's up with you. I loved On the Road, but I read that while I was messing around traveling through Europe so maybe the context was right.
cosmonaut
I'm currently reading Richard Price books (he wrote Clockers, which Spike Lee made into a film). He's one of the best crime writers I've read. I highly recommend 'Samaritan'.

I also just got an order from Microcosm and read "Welcome to the Dahl House" and "Snakepit 2007" I tend to meander a bit between several books at a time also I don't know why but I have a book at home one at work and another by the toilet. Ok quick Toilet book go! Cometbus #
murakami
i am about 500 pages into A Storm of Swords. The character chapter that just ended almost made me thrown the book down and quit reading it - but what was so close to happening that i didnt want to occur was avoided

I go through heavy book reading periods where I will read/buy a ton in one shot (or over a couple month period) and then I don't read again for a while or can't finish what I've started. Not sure why this happens.
skanknsmile
Just finished A Farewell To Arms on Thanksgiving. I am currently reading Hot Water Music, it's pretty good, pretty much what I was expecting though, minus there is no real character development. I want to read Infinite Jest next, anyone get through that beast?
