timwt
I know before there were a tons of threads on this, but the search sucks. So I'm putting out a 7" for the band A Loss for Words. It's going to be 100 copies for their acoustic tour in February, and if it sells quick maybe another 100 after. My questions: What is a good place that is not on the expensive side? And quick too because I need the records done by the end of February. They'll be on black so it doesn't matter about the color shortage going around. Also, I want to do screen print covers for this. Where could I get these done and how much would it roughly cost? www.myspace.com/alossforwords

Snaggle Von Swift
i'll be helping by buying this when it's all ready!
keevhren
the cost per unit of only 100 copies is going to be through the roof. ALFW are big enough where I dont think you'd have to worry about pressing at least 300 records. Just be sure to post about it online everywhere, give them 100 copies to go on tour with, sell the rest online through VC and on messageboards through paypal. Self screen-printing the covers will help you save some money on the overhead, but the cost alone of plating the record and all of the setup for the actual pressing is going to be a pretty penny... matt
you could press 100 but the cost per unit is going to be much higher. you need to factor in the mastering/plating which take up the most expensive part of this excursion. as for where to go ill back bill smith for a long long time. http://www.billsmithcustomrecords.com/ give dennis or kevin a call. great/helpful dudes http://hellfishfamily.com/?id=contact get mike to do some covers for you. dude is also extremely solid. Yeah, I'm going to have to talk to them about pressing more. Taking a quick look at Bill Smith I already like it cause I don't see a surcharge. United has that gay 12% shit. I might have to hit up the dude from Hellfish too. My buddies are in the Effort so I've heard a lot of good things. email plastic airlines records.harmlessrecords at gmail dot com all their releases are limited to 100-200 copies. maybe they can point you in a direction.
