thischarmingham
I think I have an original but I'm wondering if there's any real difference. Does the back or anywhere else make reference to 2008 or some other year than 1998? Is there another label listed? Anything like that? mclz
from what i understand the 2008 one is supposed to sound a lot better cause the original pressing sounded like shit.
travis
I have a new Shape Of Punk To Come but I have no idea if there is a way to tell the difference between 1st press and a repress. Im guessing there is no way to tell. Epitaph doesnt usually update anything on represses.
mclz
oh and for all the represses, they have all been the same (excluding colors) except for the fact that the early 90s release said "printed in canada" on the back and the new one's dont. thischarmingham
where does it say printed in canada? Also is there something with the inner sleeves. Aren't the new ones supposed to be glossy or something?
mclz
i'm not saying the refused lp, i'm saying old epitaph things like rancid, nofx, and the offspring
thischarmingham
okay...that would especially not be useful since this record came out in the late 90's
jordan999
its a gloosy picture sleeve yes.
thischarmingham
does the spine say "burning heart" on the new ones?
mcm1610
Do the new ones actually sound better? Is it significantly better? I have the original, and while I don't think it sounds pristine, it's certainly not jumping out at me.
jordan999
I don't think the new one sounds all that great, sounds kinda flat. But I don't have an old one to compare it too. The album length seems a bit longer than most single lps. I thought I remember a post from that guy affiliated with epitaph that there are plans for a double lp on color this year sometime (though I may be imagining that). mcm1610
I might have to buy that if they re-do it on a double. I love the album, but not enough to buy another copy that sounds the same right now.
brentoage
i don't think there are plans to press it as a 2xlp. i wish, though.
vacumecleanerman
The latest release is actually the 3rd release. 1st Press - Black and white labels on the LP 2nd Press - Colored labels, paper inner sleeve, outer sleeve cardboard is brown cardboard color 3rd Press - Colored labels, glossy inner sleeve, outer sleeve cardboard is white color (Look inside the outer sleeve) I dont have the actuall 1st press with black/white labels but from what i understand the 2nd and 3rd press sound better than the 1st. The issue has been discussed on here a long time ago. The length of the album is longer than what fits on an LP by 10 minutes or so if i remember correctly so none of them are full sound quality and yes i remeber that Epitaph guy stating he is trying to get shape of punk to come on colore and a double LP if he recognized interest of if the current release does good nough. I'm sure there is interest and that the new release is selling a shit ton. I wonder what it would be like if Refused would tour or wrote this shit recently and was still around. You can usually tell if womething was written 10 years ago but this album sounds "new" and originall as hell still 10 years later.
mcm1610
I have a legit first pressing based on that info, but it doesn't sound too bad to me.
