  1. DUde. Go to page 39 of your manual. Read "Reference Level" info. There is no need to buy a new receiver. You have one... Unless you want two different setups. READ THE MAUAL
  2. I have an Onkyo 7.2 receiver also. I had the same problem as you, where the volume through the aux input was WAY too low. It's actually fixable (In my case). My unit, SR-608, had "Intellivolume." This was an area wher all inputs were set at a relative "0" db, and you could change the 0 to +12 or -12 db. This feature is for setting all inputs to an equall listenning level, and not having to turn the volume way up or down every time you change source. Really i think it creates more of a problem than intelli anything. I also set turned all my speaker levels up a few dbs to make it even more loud, cause changing the intellivlume was just not ear peircing enough. I would think a sub 200$ receiver is not too much of an upgrade from your onkyo, not sure though. What model do you have currently? If the intellivolume fixes the issue i would just use the Onkyo. If you are to buy a dedicated amp for your turntable or sometthing that would be better. It doesnt make sense to buy a receiver for a turntable. You would be paying for a lot of features you don't use for 2 channel analog listenning if you buy a 5.1 receiver...
  3. I forget where i bought my Project Debut III (Just before i found out the carbon was coming out...), but i thought the spindle/platter was bent/off center (Was fixed by resetting and realizing it was 3 records that i listen to alot that where kind of oval). But i called the store and he was more than helpful and contacted pro-ject for me, they were more than happy to help, but i fixed it myself. anyway, the point, The person at that store helping me said he stoped carrying pro-ject projects because he got so many calls about isses, with turntables, speed boxs, and pre amps. He did say they are one of the most popular, but gave them a discredit by saying the quality control was not good enough. He also said they were always great at replacing anything and helping. But he stopped selling there lines because of the headaches.. I love my table, and have not had any problems myself. This did make me think a little though... THis was a very hi end store (AS far as what they sell) so the project line was at the bottum off there list.
  4. I really like this. I plan on getting a second turntable too, and using a MC cartridge. So this is ideal to start out with, and i get to put my hands on skills to work. I wonder if i can still decipher those schematics and refresh enough knowledgs to updgrade some components?
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PINK-FLOYD-DARK-SIDE-CANADA-MEGA-RARE-CLEAR-VINYL-lp-custom-copy-UNIQUE-/170960060116?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item27ce037ed4 Wholly mackeral.
  6. Yeah, the turntable, 12" and 7." Not nearly as good as my turntable but it will make good in my spare room for sexy nights with the ladies under the sheets. Or a good Xmas gift. Im stoked though!
  7. This stuff is pretty awesome! I have a question. Do you have a picture of that sweet 45 adapter clock with #s? Are the #s cut from vinyl i take it? Please let me know as i am interested in that along with tsome other stuff. Thanks
  8. I was reading that about half the songs a all compressed, and this this should have been a 2xLP. I forget the details but it basically clips because it was recorded with the gain cranked up...
  9. If somone was smart they could have either bought them on the DL for their record store and or eBay store. You could really make a killing and charge decent prices. Just an off the wall thought. that's all
  10. I did some more research and the latest DSOTM was pressed in the US and somewhere foreighn. Lot's of complaints and issues from the US pressing. Scuffs, pops, etc... Hopefully i get a good DSOTM. I'm seeing nothing but rave reviews for WYWH, which is in accordance with my original assumptions.
  11. That was my bad. It was "sourced" from the orginal master tapes according to musicdirect. I was just recalling what i remembered reading. The Wish You Were Here repress is what got me on this repress kick of these. I would like to get original EMI pressings and compare. I'm just recently really getting into many records and sound quality. I agrea the mastering is more important, and i was implying that better quality record and better quality pressing usually go hand in hand. I have Meddle from EMI pressing that i found in my dad's collection. It is amazing how that sounds. So i can beleive the originals of the other floyd LPs would be damn good. I am now on the hunt. I read some more reviews anout the latest DSOTM pressing and some say it's better than the 30th, and some do not. I think i will pick it up from that Hot Topic sale It'll be about 15$ shipped cause i got a 10$ gift card for 5$ so it's a good price. Do you have an opinion/ have you heard of the other Floyd represses (Wall, WYWH)? you only mention DSOTM. Is there much to compare them to besides the original (Wall, WYWH)? It seems there are many that would agrea with DSOTM, as that was the first of the re-issues. Was it the same people who remastered the 30th ann. as the latest? Sax / Gunthrie? Packaging is super nice though.
  12. That's about right. The "audiophile" and "180 gram" thing is becoming a bit of a marketing tool. THough most 180 gram pressingare i my opinion are better from my experience. It jueust seems to have a better, more full/ solid sound. Lighter vinyl can definetely suind pretty good too so it's not a deciding factor. I would also think that if a band / label were to press something on 180g (More money) they would be putting more effort in the actual mastering / editing. It also matters who mixes the the recording. Is it "Master from original analog tpape" and by whome. I don't know names of who are good but most 180 gram true repress (Remastered from og tapes) i have are amazing. What mainly comes to mind is the new pressing of pInk Floyd's Wall, Wish you Were HEre, and Dark Side of the moon. The reveiws are off the chart on those things. I bought Wish You Were Here for 28$ at Hot Topic cause i was itchin for a vinyl fix. When spun theat haevy peice of wax it blew my mind the clarity, "soundstage" as they call, and the surface is so freekin quite. I quickly understood why it cost my near 30$ (Also included some super heavy stock sleaves, poster, postcrd, download car). I then did some research on why it was so damn good. I found the reviews saying "Re mastered from original analog tapes" "Dead silent surface noise" "high quality german vinyl" which was pressed at the EMI plant i beleive. So that summed it up. I Then bought The Wall (Frikin expesive) and am not disapointed at all. Worth every penny if you're gonna keep this in excellent shape and blow your friends (The ones that aren;t too cool for Floy) and parents (My dad couldn.t beleive he was hearing such goodness< he sad "Man, this just sounds so damn good") and i have gotten many compliments on my setup (Which i return to say "it's really the vinyl" even though i got a pretty good setup. polk monitor 70s (100 watt's per channel and fake bi-amped out of my Onkyo receiver, and Klipsch RW 12".) I am waiting for Hot Topic Cash to get Dark Side (I have the 25th anniversy edistion and can only imagine the difference, based on Wall and Shine). To get it at a steal. Also, i wam pretty dissapointed on my flimsy Tomahawk vinyl where it probably is aroun 100 grams and the holes had to by cdug out with my knifr to fit the record player. And the bass less songs on their newest alsbumb. The CD makes my system go BOOM but the vinyl falls flat. Very disspointed. BS. Maybe mike patton is so in the digital age there's no point in trying to put his stuff on vinyl, hence why you don't see much. (Totally fine with that) Also, neil youg does some insane quality, and pricey, represses. Then new Sixto Repress is pretty darn good too, especially for 18.99 from my local record store. There seems to be the just put it on vinyl and color some copies and the kids will buy it crowd, and then the i want it mastered for vinyl and good quality crowd. I used to be obsessed with collecting and colors and what not but since i've got a good table and system i would much rather have my 180g black copy. I've been selling colored copies of NOFX for hundred, turn around and buy it baclk on black plus a few more records. I love it! Well sorry for rambling. And no spell check I
  13. Is the black 2xLP 180gram? I would really like another 180 gram copy, especially black. Anybody know for sure? Also, i have an extra 2nd press (single LP black), and an extra blue copy, if you are interested PM me. Maybe trade a single LP for double 180 Gram black? I have all the copies of Songs to Fan the Flames... Black, Blue, Red, 180gram White. New Noise Theology on 180 gram grrey is super sexy too. I like that Euro did all 180 gram presses of those three albums. It was a "Record Store Day" release on the euro Kings road... ha... To funny. Sold out fast too. Luckilly i grabbed them drunk right about 1 am that day. I saw them in Jully near detroit. The sound sucked for the first few songs at Royal Oak Music Theatre, bbut the guys eventually figured it out and it sounded much better. Regardless, it was such a face stomping fierce show. It's was amazing chanting along with all these other people to this band i've listened to since i was 14, now 28. Their songs on STFTFOD were so pissed live, i and they were so tight on all their stuff it blew my mind. Childhood dream come true. I picked up a poster LTD to 128. Surpisingly still available here http://shawnkknight....nprinted-poster and cheaper than what i paid at the show. O well, rReused got some cash out of it. Like the festivals aren't enough... Dogh I got a frame on sale for it for 22$. I met a guy at a local craft store that i was super cool and into what i had to say about Refused and like the poster. He offerd some ideas about matting, and we settle on two layers of white with a layer of green in the iddle. So it will have a 3D effect and look like a green pinstrip in where the white space is currently. He said he would do the green color for free and it would be around 20-30$. I'm gonna try and get to him this weeknd if he's workin (Other people wouldnt be that cool) and get this matted. Fram and matt for under 50$ is a steal. Especially with a 3 level matt and that size of fram. I've also got some sick Primus posters framed and matted if anyone is interested. I got the Primus Posters from the show here in Ann Arbor, Mi and the other from a psychadelic trip with my buddy front row in Syracuse NY (SICK Venue and show). Well i'll stick to the point, this poster rules. Hope ya'll enjoy. Here's the poster framed (Not matted) next to my Jazz band that's always playing music in my living room. (I think the picture makes it look a little taky, but i think i t looks better when you see the whole room.
  14. I thought the blue was 180 gram at first. But it is not nearly as heavy as the clear. I can double check when i get home. Buti'm pretty sur eit'snot. The clear also doesnt have printed sleeves or any inserts. So it seems like the extra money went toward the vinyl itself, rather than packaging.
  15. YEP, that's been summed up. Note: Only the Clear is 180 gram. I rocked it last night. I heart it.
  16. There's actually 3 pressing of the firstsingle LP. First LP pressing has a different picture in the bottom right corner and has black and white labels on LP. 2nd and 3rd single LP pressings have minor differences. Everyon calls the single the first press, even though it's not. You rarely see the first press. It has a picture of Dennis kneeling and screaming in the bottom right corner instead of that dude

I had 100% feedback untill somone left me negative feedback because of shipping damage. I am currently trying to resolve that matter but the person will not answer me. He wanted to back out of his bid after he won so it may be out of spite.
  19. I was reading this just before i saw the post on here http://toolvinyl.com/tool-vinyl-buyers-guide/ I saw the bootlegs on eBay and started to wonder.
  20. I did the same thing as you. Bought it for 50 and got it listed... I'm glad i found out, didn't really think otherwise... I bought a few other peices of vinyl thinking ithis was worth somehting. I'm gonna open it up when i get home and give it a listen, if it doesnt sound too good i'll just sell it and pay for my other purchases, i hate crappy sounding vinyl, ruins the whole point. It was on the shelf as with a sticker that said "Import" I'm not mad, the guy was cool and hooked me up on some other stuff. I'm into a lot of stuff. I got Sixto Rodriguez for 18 bucks which is apretty good deal, and Pink Floyd Momentary lapse of reason for 5$ in real good condition. And a Primus bootleg from 1995 for 7$ shich is pretty decent for being from 1995. I had to bail my now ex girlfriend out of jail so i didn't wanna spend any money at the record store (Like that could happen). I may have to sell my NOFX theyve actrually gotten worse live colored version to cover my costs on the credit card. We'll see. That arse hole on eBay never asked me for a return or anything! ANybody know what i can do? Can i open a case? Anybody have this happen to them? Usually people will contact me first.
