lonesomexloveus
i'm going to the beach next week and was wondering where everyone else goes as a tradition and/or what were some of your favorite vacations ever. my family and i have been going to the beach at ocean city, md ever since i was born, so it's sort of a tradition. yeah, not the most scenic place ever but i like the commercialism and all the people. plus, we usually make a trip down in the fall and that's relaxing. one of my favorite vacations was going through new england and maine. seriously gorgeous up there. jaime
I live a mile from the beach on the south shore of Mass. it attracts alot of tourists in the summertime, which sucks, but I've got friends with houses on the private beaches where we do whatever the fuck we want. I'm growing up, fast, and I'm starting to think I don't really want to leave this area..I'll surely miss it if i do.

drabley
Naples / Amalfi Coast, Italy San Juan / Ponce / Culebra, Puerto Rico Positano is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. John Steinbeck is quoted as saying “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you are gone.” That about sums it up. Playa Flemenco on Culebra, a small island off the east coast of Puerto Rico (between it and St. Thomas), has been ranked as one of the top five beaches in the world. It's magnificent. As far as domestic travel, I love Sanibel Island here in Florida. And New Orleans. I go there as often as I can.

benchwarmer
I'm not sure if I've ever been on a vacation that didn't involve some family member. the wife-to-be and I are trying to plan a honeymoon, but not sure when we'll be able to actually afford it. I like New England and all, but I feel like I have to go somewhere else.

Looks like I will be taking the ms. there next summer as she has not stopped talking about it since it sent her the link. It looks incredible! it's seriously amazing and will not disappoint! i only got to spend a day or two there but you could easily spend a week. it has so much local flavor and amazing quaint shops and restaurants in combination with the national park and its crazy amazing views, and whale watching to boot! you guys will have a really great time. edit: oh and if you want some place pretty inexpensive yet pretty nice to stay, this is where i stayed: http://www.acadiapinesmotel.com/index.html nothing fancy, but it's small family run place and it was clean and quiet with a bunch of nature trails. sgoodcore
Oktoberfest was quite cool made even better since it was a) mostly free and with my grandfather. I'd definitely do that again. Kauai is great for doing pretty much nothing outside of sun bathing, swimming, and reading. Aruba was cool but really warm and again a place for mostly reading, swimming, and sun bathing. Oahu is a nice place but its way too touristy. Rome was amazing historically as was London. Its very odd for a boy from California to be somewhere thousands of years old. We think 100 years old is ancient in Southern California. Headed to Boston shortly for my honeymoom, hoping to catch a Red Sox's game. That'll be nice. Been to New York, its what I expected and it was great to head to Ellis Island. All-in-all I've been around a bit and I'd say its hard to pick a favorite because its all mood based. It would be great to find a place conducive to 2-3 days of reading, sunbathing and relaxing. Then have that same place be good for 3-4 days of sight-seeing and movement. psychoriley
Never really have been on vacation, I am going to Hawaii over Christmas. I'm exited about that...never been. Visiting my sister, and other family will be there, but it will still be somewhat a vacation for me. But I still need to plan a REAL vacation for just me n my girfriend. Maybe next summer.
