minty
...or more to the point, how much would you buy a cassette tape for from a band in this day and age? it would be a 4-track e.p and come with an mp3 download, and the coloured cassette would be all spraypainted and shit. plus it would have a little lyrics insert. is £3 (€3.5, $5) too much? professionally duplicated and not just done on my tape deck! brotherkyle
$5 sounds about right
casey
Since i just invested in a new tape deck, I'm interested in cassettes again. They make better mixes. And if I lived in the UK, Minty, I would totally buy the above mentioned.
desensitizedbyu
I do still, sometimes I forget to charge my iPod and pop in a tape. $5 doesn't seem too bad, I know O Pioneers!!! had some tapes made for Neon Creeps and I think it was around that price. Guest drahtuos
$5 is pretty standard price for cassettes this day and age.
danthemjfan23
it would have to be a band i was into.... but i'd say $5 is a good price. like, if i saw an opening band at a show and i liked them a little bit, but they only had tapes, i probably wouldn't buy one. but if it was a band i was decently into, i'd probably do it. (especially if you're a fan of GLASS AND ASHES and HOT WATER MUSIC) http://www.myspace.com/okpilot playing fest this year again too!

saxamaphone
$5 seems like a fair price but I wouldn't pay over that.

Just Another Tom
I only have a hand full of tapes, most of them i have had since middle school, Although i have bought a couple recently. I picked up the Iron Chic tape before there was a CDr to support them and so i had a physical copy. I also bought All - Mass Nerder as my contribution to a road trip fund as my mates bus only has a tape deck. £3 sounds more than fair to me. and i would definitely pick one up from Ok Pilot. kurtz
I currently own around 50 cassettes. It seems like a lot of bands these days still like to release their demo on tape. Anywhere from $3-$5 is a fair price.
Guest markovianprocess
I'd definitely pay £3 for a cassette, in fact anything up to £5 I'd consider an impulse purchase. Anything above that and I'd start to reconsider. Sounds like a great plan though. We need more releases from a label like yours! Oh, and that Iron Chic tape is awesome. mclz
i only buy old 80s/early 90s cassette comps and demos
drabley
I don't buy tapes, and haven't in probably close to 15 years, but £3 sounds good since a bottle of water cost that much when I was in Italy last fall.
mrc
the last tape i bought was 4ppd, $5 might be a touch high.
motorbike
tapes? i know some bands still press them but really? i guess this is my question: why choose tapes over mp3's, cd's or vinyl? they definitely dont sound better.

Oh, and that Iron Chic tape is awesome. thanks! i'm really excited to be working with british bands right now...there are some awesome tunes being made by this kingdom and the word needs to be spread! tapes? i know some bands still press them but really? i guess this is my question: why choose tapes over mp3's, cd's or vinyl? they definitely dont sound better. the tape will come with the MP3s available as a download, so the best of both worlds. plus they are very cheap to produce professionally so in turn you can sell them for cheap! motorbike
i meant from a buyers point of view. i buy vinyl. people think im dumb and its dated. to me buying a tape is like choosing vhs over dvds. its like the chewbacca defense.
