jaime
i went to blink182 last night ( hah!) and for the encore travis did a drum solo, in which his section of the stage took off into the air and di some crazy shit, but it was seirously a fucking mind boggling drum solo. he was playing along to some electro/hip-hop shit and it was just all so fucking good. casey
Most folks that don't like a certain kind of music will say whatever they're not into sounds like a generic _______ band/musician. Someone could easily say that Krupa and Rich sound like typical jazz drummers if that person was being completely subjective.
Guest kevinb
Too a point yes but I think the black Dahlia murders drummer could take that dude any day of the week

von
Oh man i totally grew up on Buddy. And Bellson, Krupa, Roach, all those guys. My dad even studied with Joe Morello (played with Dave Brubeck) in the early 90's, so he got to hear all sorts of first hand Buddy Rich stories. In terms of hands these days, no one can even come close to the level Jo Jo Mayer is on, dude is unreal.

How do those exactly work anyway ? to me unless you really know you're shit for the amount to time you get at a "clinic" it seems like kind of a waste of $. Well, in my area the long island drum center, been around now for 33 years does all the clinics. Usually in a small venue, with lots of question and answers with who ever is doing it, and you can meet them and talk with them. Def. not a concert feel at all... got to see some good ones the LIDC has put on, stephen perkins, jojo, bozio, dennis chambers...

partysmasher
huge fan of Dave Grohl, not necessarily for technicality, but more the fluidity and power that he plays with.
