Guest kissthesharks
Once I won like 50 bucks.. it felt like a million though. Remember being a kid and 50 bucks was like a HUGE fucking deal?! You could get soo much shit with it.
sonix
Back in the day I thought I could retire on fifty billz. Now its like gas and a six pack.
circlingvultures
i usually buy a few on payday. Most I won was $500. I cashed it in and had to stop at another gas station for something like an hour later and I won another $500.

circlingvultures
i try not to buy them anymore. same with going to the casino. Ive had pretty good luck but you know my record collection would probably be doubled if i just stopped pissing away money on them. I like the random luck of it though, which is why i like the "whatever" boxes and mystery tube sales and the like.
Guest kissthesharks
My cousin won a Dodge ram on a scratch off once. They wouldn't let him claim it until he paid his back child support. True story.
zac
I only get these in stockings. THANKS FOR THE PIECES OF CARDBOARD MOM! My friend's parents did this when we were in highschool and he won like $200 I think.
dave4444
me and my buddy won a "tree" of scratch tickets at a social one time and turned it into like 4 nights of entertainment, for 20 bucks i would say thats a good deal
riddle350
these are fun to do on occasion. I've never won much. I think $10 max but if you only have $5 and you end up with enough to buy a twelve pack than you've come out on top.
musicinveins11
i buy them 5-10 times a week and always , for the most part end on top . the whole deal is you have to know odds though , never ever buy a 1-3 dollar one as the odds suck . the more you spend the better your chances are . i have bought maybe 10 20 dollar ones in my time and that equals 200 dollars and i have made about 580 off of those . of coarse 500 of that was on one in september ( mrc you got alot of that ) I might be lucky but i always go for the 5 dollar ones at least . just won 20 off a 5 today in fact and got lunch for my daughters on the way to grandparents house . kurtmanner
I rarely buy these. Maybe 5-10 times a year, if that even. They definitely get handed out at Christmas though. My cousin won $10,000 on a scratch ticket on her 18th birthday and I have a friend in MA who had the same happen to him as well.
wannabepunktony
I love the crosswords ones because they last longer than a few seconds. Gotta get your money's worth in enjoyment so when you lose, its not so bad...right?

hickey
I buy these once a year when I cash in my change jar. I usually buy $100 worth and end up with nothing. Usually, my change jar reaches $500 or more before I cash it in.
alertthemute
A girl at my work won 10,000 on one of these from the one in her stocking. Obviously she quit her job (we were only in highschool).

Gotta get your money's worth in enjoyment so when you lose, its not so bad...right? yep the one i won today was one of those . love those . crosswords, scrabble, etc. all decent time killers. the odds aren't terrible, just don't go back after you win and keep trying. or scratch them in the store. the worst. save them all up and try again in a week. we usually play on the same pot of money, just once a week or every other week. a mix of $2-3 ones, mostly because there are ones that take a few minutes to scratch. although, i feel the magic is gone at the place we usually go. seems to be slim pickings lately :-/

mcm1610
My change jar is that Guinness pint-glass looking bank. It's not nearly big enough.. I have pennies in a growler that I don't know what I'll do with when it fills, and silver change in the Guinness bank that fills all the time. I just throw it at my credit car.. I should put it into my savings instead but I make bad financial decisions.
circlingvultures
the odds are available on the lotterys website. theres a $20 i play every week and the odds are like 1 in 3. the $1 and $2 have terrible odds. the $30 one is pretty bad too.
