dynamitekid
I got some e-mails saying I sent and received some money through paypal but I didn't make the transaction. There were links in the e-mial but I didn't click them because I can't tell if they are legit. Has this happened to anyone else?
Guest
Best way to check is to log directly into your paypal account and check the transaction history.
hickey
Don't bother clicking. Paypal is the biggest target of phishing scams. If you ever get an email and think it might be legit, type in paypal's URL and log into your account.
dynamitekid
ok, when I logged in it says I need to update my account info. Weird.
jhulud
Each and every time I get a strange Paypal email and don't bother opening it. I just forward it to [email protected] and surely they reply that it was more than likely a phishing attempt and not a legit email.

Guest eriathomas
This is one of the reasons I don't like ordering from No Idea, because I hate having to go through an email to get to my paypal. I avoid any and all paypal emails like the plague usually, legit or not.
dynamitekid
so apparently someone hacked my account and is sending a receiving money under my name. I tried calling paypal but its all automated so I don't know what the f is going on.
Guest eriathomas
Call your bank, if you account is linked to your bank account, or your credit card company if it's linked to a credit card.

MY password was insanely simple so it's probably my own fault but I got a call back and was asked to mail some info and it should be sorted out in a few days. hopefully. patron
Weird, I just sold an item on ebay tonight and got an email saying that the payment will be held up to 21 days, or until I receive positive feedback for the item. Is this fishy to anyone else?
adamlikesmusic
Weird, I just sold an item on ebay tonight and got an email saying that the payment will be held up to 21 days, or until I receive positive feedback for the item. Is this fishy to anyone else? Does it show as "paid" on eBay? And does it say anything when you're logged into Paypal? If not, I'd imagine the buyer is fucking with you, as I often have buyers who never ever leave me feedback, even when transactions go smoothly. I've never heard of payment relying on positive feedback.
patron
Ebay says it's paid, and paypal has a legit page about holding payments. My recent transactions says received, but holding to insure the buyer can get a refund if need be. I'm just a bit worried, as I've heard a lot of stories of sellers being screwed over, and I haven't done anything wrong.
adamlikesmusic
That's odd. I haven't sold since last September, but I don't think I've ever seen that happen. I hope that isn't the case, as it sounds like it'd be way easy for buyers to fuck over sellers.
voodooramen
I have been keeping my paypal unlinked with my bank account until I NEED to get something with it. It's a matter of 30 seconds to remove or add a bank account, and it is a hell of a lot safer than leaving it on there, with just ONE password blocking someone from stealing my money. No thanks. I really, really do not like paypal.
Guest eriathomas
I've never had funds held before, but I've heard of it happening. Was the transaction for a lot more then you normally sell stuff for?
dynamitekid
Mine was three separate transactions of $78. The weird thing was it said I sent and received the amounts. I called paypal and luckily they had put an immediate hold on them and I hope it gets cleared up soon.

patron
So I think I'm going to refund the buyer the payment, and send him a new invoice.
ral
So I think I'm going to refund the buyer the payment, and send him a new invoice. There's no need to do a refund. Ebay has been doing this for a while for "new" sellers. Nothing to worry about really, you just have to wait it out.
