LowEndAutomatic
Sorry, I searched for this topic, but couldn't find anything. Although I'm pretty sure it's been raised... So, how often do you come across new records that play just fine, but are slightly warped? Does this bug you? For example, I noticed that my copies of the Chris Wollard LP and De-Loused in the Comatorium have a slight concave to them. No big deal considering they play well, but just curious... travis
It happens, not too big of a deal as long as they still play fine.
pjaicomo
Yeah, it used to bug me at first, but its just the way it is. As long as it plays fine, I am cool with it. I still despise seam splits, however. That is its own topic though.
LowEndAutomatic
Yeah, that's pretty much the way I've always looked at it too; it happens! However, I had a conversation with a friend recently and he seemed a little more bothered by it then I've ever been...
travis
It sucks but its going to happen over and over if you buy enough vinyl, especially thru mail order.
scooterist136
I've been buying records exclusively for 16 years. I'd say that 1 out of every 10 records I receive through the mail is slightly warped. I'd say 1 out of every 5 has some some cover blemish (bent corner, seem split, etc.) which is due to the shipping process.

daniel
My copy of Vheissu is crazy warped but it plays just fine. Apparently a lot of people's copies are.
mattstrike
Record clamp. They work on some - especially when the LP is dished, like the OP's. I personally mind very much now that I have a higher resolution turntable, as I can clearly hear the warp if it is severe enough. I have successfully flattened warped records using the glass and oven method…

faith
stick the record between 2 pieces of glass and then put it in the oven for a short period of time

mattstrike
Hey, it works! You put the oven on for 100-150º F (a decent oven thermometer from a kitchen supply store helps get the temp perfect) and let it warm up for an hour or so. The other way to do it is place the record between two pieces of glass and put lots of heavy items (books for instance) on top of the glass and leave it for a month or longer. But the oven and glass is pretty much what record flattener machines does…

kurt
I honestly have better luck ordering records through the mail than buying them new half the time. Jacket wear is no big deal to me, but even a slight wobble annoys me.
Just Another Tom
I have a few slightly warped records but they all play fine. I have way more parcels show up with damaged covers. It doesn't really bother me, i don't mind a bit of ware of sleeves, it makes them looked loved! the only time i get bummed out is when it is part of my Lawrence Arms collection it is the only one i would like in perfect condition, yet they are always the records that arrive all dinged up!
