Altar Bar - Pittsburgh

I'm going to the Bronx show tomorrow night and looking for the usual details:

What's the parking situation? And how safe is the neighborhood if I'm parked far away? This isn't on the strip like Smiling Moose, right?

What's the venue like? From the website, it looks like a Diesel/Metropol type of place.

Any other details/opinions are appreciated, thanks.

It's in the Strip District.

I've never been there, so I know nothing about it. I always though it was some kind of bro bar or something. You should be fine if you park in the vicinity.

I'm planning on riding my bike down, it's just a few blocks down from my apartment.

its okay. sound is pretty good and there's a fair amount of space w/ good sight lines....but you can't smoke and the cheapest bottled beers are $4 a piece.

I really liked it. Could see the bands well and there are places to sit (or stand on) along the side.

Room is awesome, old converted church, bands play where the altar was. Capacity number is deceptive because it has an upper balcony that is open only for bigger shows. Bar prices are on par with all other venues of comparible size, but in a better location (ie not southside or where smalls is). I think its a great space and the few shows I go too, its probably the only venue in pittsburgh that I actually like.

Also, this is not where the moose is, that is south side (aids) and this is the strip disctrict (not aids)
