The National - High Violet

CD orders come in a deluxe O-card pakaging with a folded poster and foil stamping

LP copies will be on limited colored vinyl

(colored vinyl is very limited and won't last long, actual order page will note if they are still available)

Random copies of both formats will contain a VIOLET TICKET redeemable for $50 at the Beggars store.

Edit: I just got an email from Beggars, looks like there are around 2000 on violet.

I've already got mine preordered. They'll also have the violet at various independent stores, and the physical locations are listed on a map. Also, some record stores are getting one copy with a "violet ticket" good for 50 dollar credit at the store.

Also, I've heard the leak and this album is simply amazing.

^ the national are a pretty big band.

they've got 5 full lengths going back to '01... thats an easy way to build a pretty huge following.

that and they play all the major festivals

Yeah, that and the fact that as far as major indie releases this is really amongst the most anticipated. Even people that aren't huge fans of The National based on past albums are pretty excited as far as I can tell.

I really want to hear this before I order. I got into them late, but didn't really start to like them until I listened to Alligator. Still don't really care for a lot of Boxer.

I feel Alligator is leaps and bounds better than anything else in their catalogue...they're great live though, far more energy than you'd expect and sound fantastic to boot

...that said, I've already pre-ordered this...when the original thread for this popped up a few weeks back

Boggles my mind. One of the great albums of the past 5 years. It bored me until I saw them and I realized how unbelievable it is. Give it another listen.

I was at their show at The Bell House in Brooklyn after they finished the album. If you like The National, you won't be disappointed.

If you go to The National's website/High Violet page, there is a link to the map.

Also, I've ordered my copy of the repress of SSFDL. It comes in the original jackets (they found 500, hence the limited release for now) and with the poster. The difference is the record pressing (may be remastered) and label.

PS: Here are pictures of the violet pressing of High Violet...wow. ;D

The album is supposedly streaming here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/25/magazine/25national-t.html?pagewanted=1

but I can't seem to find it. Anyone check that out?

Edit: Nevermind...

Editor's Note: Due to security issues, the full stream of the "High Violet" has been removed. A condensed version of the album will be posted shortly.
