scotterson
^they only have a set amount of purples, then itll be black. your invoice should say if its colored or not. I know, mine says colored, I'm just worried about this: On limited edition items, the orders will be processed from earliest to latest. In the event that pre-orders exceed availability, allocation will be done based on when the order was placed (starting with the earliest order). blugel
hmm, yeah, that last quote kinda sucks. wish they could let us know sometime so could still have a try at the stores, if need be.
scotterson
I'm assuming anyone who ordered from AE got this email, but just in case: You are receiving this email as you placed a pre-order for the National'sHigh Violet - Golden Ticket edition. We have received our allocation from the label, and due to the demand of this album there are not sufficient copies of the limited edition version to fill all orders. We have received about 75% of our copies as the limited edition colored vinyl version, so we are not able to ship the limited edition version to everyone who ordered it. Due to this we are offering you the option of canceling your order for this title. No-one will receive more than one copy of the colored version (if you ordered multiple copies). If you do not wish to cancel your order, the copies will be randomly shipped (the regular version & the colored version) until all pre-orders are shipped (there will be no remaining copies after the pre-orders have shipped). If you wish to receive your order for this title, there is a 75% chance you will receive the colored vinyl limited edition. Please respond to this email if you wish to cancel your order by the end of today (05/04/10) so that we may start processing orders. If we do not receive a reply, we will regard that as you wanting to receive the record. We apologize for having to do this, but unfortunately the label could not supply the quantities we had requested for this release. Thanks Steve They are filling the orders at random if enough people don't cancel
gmoney
Also, the purple copies will be sold in stores - only around 300 were sold through the Beggars site, so most record stores should be getting a few copies of this.
scotterson
Yeah, I wish they would just tell me if I'm getting one or not. Given the choice between nothing and black, I'd obviously be happy with black, but if I knew ahead of time I could at least try to get a purple copy from a store. I guess I'm just hoping that enough people ordered multiple copies that will make my chances pretty good. EDIT #2: I've listened to this a few times on NPR, and am really enjoying it. Much better than Boxer IMO. Regardless of what copy I end up with, I'm glad I decided to pick it up.
blugel
yeah, i can't decide if i want to chance it or not. think i'll call a local store up and see if they are getting any and if they can hold one before i make a decision on my order.

yancey47
Got my Beggars Group Pre-Order today! Vinyl looked black until i held it up to the light. Sounds great. I do like this band. No golden ticket or whatever.
ohnotherobot
Love this album, but that line about walking with spiders just about wrecks it for me...
scotterson
Love this album, but that line about walking with spiders just about wrecks it for me... The only line that bothers me, that I've noticed so far, is "I was afraid I'd eat your brains, 'cause I'm evil." Can't wait to get this in. Got a shipping notification from AE a few days ago! pianorocker
I ordered mine and got the translucent purple. I've also heard that the purple edition number may actually be 5000? Also, people have been finding the colored one at record stores not on the map...so maybe that's just for one's that may have the violet ticket thing? Not sure, but I'll see if my shop has them on the 11th.

googlemyass
gatefold too i believe?
birdwell
i received mine this past Saturday. Double LP 180g translucent "Violet", definitely Gatefold with some nice silver foil-stamping on parts of the gatefold, really heavy weight cardstock for the entire package...which makes the LPs fit a bit too snug in the Gatefold for me (kinda scared it's going to eventually rip), My guess is it's out of 2,000 as I have somewhere in the 1200s (which is stamped on the back near the bottom right corner) but that's mere speculation. No golden ticket with mine...still not exactly sure what that was for so no big loss. This pressing sounds pretty damn great, I love this new record and it sounds pretty damn good on vinyl to boot. rue
My European (solid colour) pressing isn't numbered. I was under the impression that both the US & Euro coloured pressings were under 2000, but evidence suggests otherwise.
