ohnotherobot
http://www.myspace.com/criminalrecordsqueenst So this store in Toronto is selling Rega P1's for $400 - which seems to be to going rate for them - but apparently they give you a gift certificate for $100 worth of free records. Whoa! Sounds good to me (hopefully they'll have some vinyl I'm looking for - new National, Japandroids, Dead Weather, etc.). Thoughts? croy
I know nothing about this promotion, but it's a reputable store with good stock and good prices.
mygreatdevastator
This is only good if you're actually in Canada though, so you're good.
patron
Yeah, they give away vinyl credits with any turntable they sell. I was thinking of picking this deal up just last week, actually. As for their selection, they have a ton of indie and more popular punk rock titles (No-Idea, etc).
patron
Also, are these like the Pro-Ject Debut III's where you have to remove the platter to change the speed? I imagine that becoming super-ass-annoying.
mcm1610
Speed box. I'm someday soon going to buy one of these homeboys, I just need a real paycheck to come.

benjo09
Its not as bad as people think. Takes less than 5 seconds. The only pain is forgetting to do it before you start playing a record.

I get round it by having 2 Turntables, one set at 45 and the other 33!
patron
Once I get paid next week, I might pick this up. Although it seems very compariable to the Pro-Ject Debut III. Is there really anything notable that differs?

Is there really anything notable that differs? They're very similar. They come stock with the exact same Ortofon cartridge, even. I've been told that the Rega is supposed to be the higher end brand, and the Pro-Ject is a "really great knock-off," but reviews usually find them almost identical in sound quality. patron
But neither have auto-return, right?
mcm1610
No, I don't believe they do.

I'm very happy with my P1 (and have a ton of 45s).
rforster
Thanks for this link! I've been researching to get my first turntable and this Rega P1 keeps coming up! Being in Toronto, defintely going to check it out! Ryan
