Mylene Sheath JULY NEWS

Recommended Posts

Heyyyyyyyyyooooooo!!

What's up gang??? Hope everybody's summers are in full swing and kicking butt! If you're here in the states, we hope your July 4th festivities were supah fun last weekend =) The past month here at Sheath HQ has been nothing short of an epic adventure. It would be nearly impossible to put into words, but moving over three tons of vinyl records five hundred miles south and setting up shop in a brand new town can be a pretty grueling experience! First and foremost, we need to thank Nate from Gifts From Enola for bringing the Gifts bus up to Cincinnati, OH and helping us load it up and move everything down to Athens, GA. That's something only family does for each other and we'll never forget it brother, love you like whoa! With Nate's help we were able to make the move happen and while we're still trying to get reorganized and back up and running like normal, we have completed the haul and should be caught up on everything ASAP. If you are currently waiting for an email response from us, we just ask you to please bear with us a little longer while we work to catch up again and thanks so much to everyone so far for their patience, we appreciate it more than you could possibly know!

We'd also like to take a second and just thank everyone for their trust in preordering three different records so close together. We understand how hard it is to wait to receive records that you've preordered! It means a lot to us that people are OK to throw down money on three different records merely weeks apart from one another and we have updates aplenty on each preorder below. As always, feel free to get in touch with any questions about your order specifically if you need to =)

Now lets do this thang!

SUMMER PREORDER UPDATES

Lets start out by running down through the progress of each of these so everyone knows where we're at with everything =)

(Sheath019) ANGEL EYES - Midwestern LP / CD

Everything continues crackin' right on time with the production of this beast. The CD will be in stores on July 13th and it will be available for digital download on iTunes, eMusic, Amazon MP3, and every other DSP on the planet July 13th as well. The preorders will ship out a little later (when the vinyl gets here), looking at around the 3rd week in July at this point. If anything changes will be certain to let everyone know =) In the meantime, please feel free to check out a track, "Midwestern III", from the album HERE. If you like what you hear, there's still some of the limited navy blue color (only 100 pressed) up for grabs - but very few, less than 10 - that you can snag. Otherwise the gold vinyl is still available as well, so don't sleep peeps =)

(Sheath021) CASPIAN - You Are The Conductor / The Four Trees 3xLP

There have been several snags on this one, everything from the printwork to the test presses have posed obstacles, but we're finally back on track now and are hoping to have these shipping out by the end of the month =) We definitely apologize for the delays on it, but all the extra effort is going to pay off BIGTIME! When you take on a project of this magnitude, it always ends up taking a little bit longer due to all the different components involved. But we're almost there! Aaaaand we still have some of the silver vinyl, hand numbered copies available. We'll be sure to keep everyone posted on this one as they begin shipping out!

(Sheath022) GIFTS FROM ENOLA - Gifts From Enola LP / CD

In a strange twist of irony, it looks like these are going to be the first ones to start shipping, even though they were the last in the series of preorders we launched =) The word from the plant is that the die-cut holes turned out perfect and we should all be incredibly stoked =) You can be the judge around the middle of the month when we mail yours out to you!! And in related news, you can now stream the entire album on the Sheath website and orange vinyl can still be ordered. All blue vinyl and shirts sold out really quick, thanks to everyone that rocked this preorder, unbelievable.

SUMMER RELEASE SHOWS!

So with preorders comes release shows! We're super excited for the two release shows coming up this month =) On July 16th, we'll be in Harrisonburg, VA at The Blue Nile for the Gifts From Enola release show to celebrate the albums release and send the boys off all proper-like on a six week US tour from coast to coast in support of the album (full dates listed on their myspace page). So come out and say hi if you're going to be there =) Then following the bands US tour, they'll be coming over to Europe for the first time, so get ready Europe - for it finally cometh!! But that is then, this is now!! So on July 23rd, we'll be at Ronnies in Chicago, IL for the release show of Angel Eyes' formidable "Midwestern". The band has enlisted the support of Cincinnati, OH doomers and long time Sheath family members Beneath Oblivion to open.... jesus christ, really??? Needless to say, this show is going to be loud, heavy, angry and legendary =) Again, please come up and hang for a sec if you see us <3

UPCOMING JUNIUS TOURS

The boys in Junius are preparing for some serious touring over the next couple months here in the states! The first set of dates (August 19th - September 5th) will be with Equal Vision recording artists "Orbs". The band features members of such badass bands as Between The Buried & Me, Fear Before, Cradle of Filth and Abigail Williams - don't miss it! The second set of dates (September 7th - October 3rd) will be with Volcom Entertainment band "Valient Thorr" and Relapse Records badasses "Howl". It's safe to say that catching the band over the next couple months would be one of the best decisions you can make. So make it... and DOIT!! Full tour dates are listed on the bands myspace page.

THE MYLENE ZINE

So we've begun working on putting together the next issue of The Mylene Zine (#3 for those of us keeping count!) We've got some stuff cookin' in the oven regarding content that will make this third issue a definite charm! We have not been able to keep up with submissions during the past few weeks, so if you've submitted something and not heard back, just know we'll be in touch soon to thank you for your submission and confirm its entry as long as there's room =) There's going to be some wicked awesome interviews in this issue with some wicked awesome people. Chances are you'll want to have your name printed in the same pages as some of them, ya dig? Send over your work =) And remember, it can be a photograph, poem, short story, political rant, antisocial venting, the final report of your latest science experiment, the most embarrassing moment of your life, a journal entry, a comic strip, any-freaking-thing-that-you-feel-like-expressing-because-it-will-make-you-feel-alive. Obviously, we always want the zine to act as a reflection of how we're all thinking and feeling as a collective of individuals during a very tumultuous time globally. It should be a vessel for us all to come together and share what we creatively have to offer, whether it's support, anger, disgust, relief or anything else. So send in any and all submissions to [email protected] and participate and contribute!

THE MYLENE INTERN

We'd like to take a quick sec to introduce you to the first new staff member that the Sheath has had the honor of bringing on for day-to-day help =) Hailing from the lovely Harrisonburg, VA and recently relocated to sunny Athens, GA... the one... the only... CASEY WHEELER!!! This super lady will not only be helping shoulder some of the workload but she also brings experience in film and digital video to the Sheath, which we could DEFINITELY use an upgrade in! You will all be getting to know her over time as she starts getting her feet wet with the mundane tasks and then eventually taking over the label when Lindsay & Joel travel the world on the new yacht purchased with music business bucks, in search of buried treasure in uncharted territories. But after meeting Casey at this years Macrock festival, we couldn't be more excited to have her coming on board =) The help is MUCH needed and as long as she doesn't run for the hills after realizing what she's gotten herself into, things should begin running all the more smoothly around here =) Stoked!

RECENT COMPILATION APPEARANCES

Exploding In Sound, an awesome music news website, recently put out a new compilation entitled "In Case Of Evacuation" that features jams from Open Hand, Maps & Atlases, Disappearer, Red Fang, Helms Alee, along with the Sheath blood, Caspian and Actors & Actresses. Everyone should head over and download this joint. Loads of great bands on here! There's two other compilations coming out soon featuring some of the Mylene soldiers as well =) One is a tribute to one of the great bands of the 90's and the other is a compilation to celebrate the launching of a new website. We'll announce them when they're available for download =)

CONSTANTS - If Tomorrow, The War

Just a quick update on the new Constants album entitled "If Tomorrow, The War". It saddens us to say that this will not be coming out on The Mylene Sheath. However we still consider the Constants posse to be straight family and wish them the best of luck on this album. It's certainly an album capable of defining a band and we know everyone is going to love it =) Please continue to support the band in every way possible =) Onward & upward fellas!

RIP - MOJO BABY

It was a tough weekend here at Sheath HQ as one of the pack, Mojo, lost her battle with Lymphoma. She helped pack a lot of your records over the years and has been with us for well over a decade. As all the bands that have crashed here know, she was a total sweetheart and she will be sorely missed =) She died peacefully and suffered only shortly and she's now in a more comfortable place =) It won't be the same around here for a minute, but I guess they can't live forever... unfortunately. Love you Mojo baby!

Not to close this months newsletter out on a bummer-tip, but that's all we've got and we need to get crackin' on some other stuff - like the scary, overflowing email inboxes =) Have a great month of July everyone, and please, if you're in Harrisonburg, VA or Chicago, IL come out to these release shows and support the bands. These are two of the best albums that have ever come out on the label and we are so insanely proud of each of them - come celebrate them with us!! Hopefully we'll see you there <3 If anyone needs anything at all, we're here - just get in touch! And if we don't hear from you, we'll talk again next month!! And remember - life is enigmatic, but it's the not knowing that makes it sentimental =) Later gators!!

xoxo,

Lindsay & Joel

I love that when Mylene releases are "delayed" it's by only a week or so. 3 releases in a month, handled just by them? Lindsay & Joel (and new intern Casey) are fucking superheroes.

The Sheath is backed till death. And then some.

AGREEEEEEEEED!

They're totally epic! Fantastic service & support aswell. I can't wait for the Gifts from Enola LP to be released. Good times ;D

yeah, i did wanna see them. the fingernail bit is ridiculous, but the Sheath moguls are pretty on-the-ball with everything, so i'm they've already discussed these issues with Pirates. does the fingernail affect play? i will have a close-up look at my Junius copy to see whether that hole is endemic of the pressing.
