devinr
The Humpty Dance should have been number one. Classic track!
axlrose
So you take 10+ years to compile the best songs of the 90s but don't even wait until the end of 2009 to compile the best albums/songs from 2000-2010? Sure, that makes sense.
flicker
i kind of wish people would just be more open to discovering some of the new music that is presented rather than bicker about site semantics...but whatever its the internet. get rid of this music bullshit and make room for porn. I have no issue with the site, I just have no coloration with Pitchfork. Some stuff i love they hate, some stuff they love I hate, some stuff we both love. But it's pretty much a roll of the dice, so I just don't really trust their opinion in terms of how I'll enjoy something. But I don think it's pretty lame they did their best of the decade with 6 months left in the last year, which probably means they had to discount at least 8 or so due to the time it took to compile and edit the list the did make. One of my favorite albums of the last decade came out in July of last year, but my list would also be substantially less thought out than a pitchfork list. casey
Was Ace of Bass in the '90s? If so, I'm going with "Don't Turn Around".

Sure, that makes sense. I see where you're coming from, but I bet they did that as a marketing thing. Because EVERYONE had some crazy list at the end of 2009. It did kind of bug me though. At least they're not waiting until the end of 2010 like... I may have said too much!

If you're referring to what I think you are, the end of 2010 is a generous estimate. 2014 will tell you all the best albums from 5 years ago. bathroommonkey
i made a playlist from their best of the 2000's list. i think i ended up having like 125 of the tracks, it ended up being a fun playlist. their 2000's list had 500 songs not 250. Sure, that makes sense. while i don't like pitchfork or the people who live obsessing over what they write, this actually does make sense depending on their definition of a decade. 2000 - 2009 is 10 years, so technically, that's a decade. if there were any albums from 2010 on the list (i wouldn't know, i didn't read the list) then this theory is out the window. and yes, i agree that 8 or 9 months isn't nearly enough time to let the music of an entire decade soak in, but whatever. if the people want lists, goddamnit that's what the people are gonna get! casey
Man, I'm really pissed that they waited so long to make the best of the '60s list. I mean, they should've done it like 30 years ago, amirite?
bathroommonkey
the top twenty were pretty good. so many bands on that list that i haven't taken the time to listen too. like i had no idea the Pulp had any good songs. off to make the playlist, and to listen to Gold Soundz a bunch. saxamaphone
I'm not gonna read any of that so I'll just assume that "Rump Shaker is #1 and stay happy.
