dynamitekid
they played great. Everyone was going crazy and the Bosstones rocked it. The Street Dogs were alright, a little too preachy for my taste but the music was good. The Pietasters were great for the little bit I saw of them. I was pissed because the box office said the show started at 8 BUT the pietasters went on at 7:30. So Stupid. Fuck the Avalon.
hickey
Oh man, bummer missing the Pietasters...they are always awesome live.

felicia
i didn't think street dogs were preachy at all?
scottheisel
i didn't think street dogs were preachy at all? They're pretty vocal about "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!! WE LOVE THE U.S. MILITARY!!" etc. (both things I heard them say at the NYE show with the Bosstones).

There's a difference between supporting the troops (because he fought in Desert Storm) and supporting the war. The only thing I heard him talk about last night was bringing home the troops safely and then went into "Final Transmission" which he wrote about himself. Doesn't everyone to see the troops come home safely?
dynamitekid
I thought it was weird because he mentioned it at least three times and he talked about supporting the firefighters and stuff and it just put off a weird vibe.

scottheisel
I'm in favor of bringing our soldiers home, but it's weird to have a punk band sing songs about it. That's one of the reasons I've always been turned off from Dropkick Murphys, too -- they've very right-wing on certain issues (nationalism, pro-union, etc). steventangent
right wing? pro union? que?
scottheisel
I thought unions usually endorsed Republicans.
andrew13
democrats are the union votes typically. haven't you been following the election much? they were talking about ohio being hillary's stronghold because of all the union votes, then most the unions endorsed obama instead of her. steventangent
I thought unions usually endorsed Republicans. nah. Actually Republicans are usually pretty anti-union, especially now. See : everyone tripping over themselves to prove they love Reagan the most.
scottheisel
Oh, my bad. Consider that portion of my comment retracted.
steventangent
Yeah. This is actually been a lot of discussion on something that doesn't really matter. But whatever.
scottheisel
Eh, I still don't like Street Dogs. Their whole band just seems too obvious.

But then again he was a firefighter before Street Dogs.
twelvetwenty
Speaking of the Bosstones: When they played the throwdown people were handing out cards to get a free download of exclusive media content. I signed up at the site and never got shit. Anyone have any luck with that?
flood
i think scott and i ruined that by throwing all of their cards at people.
