Vinyl Fury
Listening now. Pleased with the sound so far. Id say its probably just as good as my original. Glad I can listen to this and keep that puppy safe (that one is autographed too). I can confirm that the packaging is the same, except this new insert is on glossy paper and the original upc is covered by a new sticker. However, this is a different plate, presumably the same used for the box set. Anyone else think the color is very similar to the most recent 'Planet of Ice' pressing? llamason56
same plate (or stamper plate) used to press the records at the plant that was used for the box set that's coming out

Vinyl Fury
same plate (or stamper plate) used to press the records at the plant that was used for the box set that's coming out Right. Original stamper was not used, it was recut, different markings in the runoff groove area. And I'm quite sure WB would not do two different remasters now. Vinyl Fury
I've always liked the bass on this record. It especially shines on vinyl. Abe's kick on Needles and Pins is where its at. One of my favorite songs ever. Heavy.

One of my favorite songs ever. Heavy. If its an obviously new plate, then I'm glad they still managed to keep those sonic nuances in tact because I remember thinking that the original press reproduced that kick drum amazingly and all the bass in general. Vinyl Fury
Right. Original stamper was not used, it was recut, different markings in the runoff groove area. And I'm quite sure WB would not do two different remasters now. i guess that would mean that these were "cut from the master tapes" like the box set boasted. fuck yeah! i don't believe 'master tapes' has been stated anywhere, rather 'master recordings', which could mean anything.
